Hi everyboy,
LinPlug is a member of IMSTA, the International Music Software Trade Association. Though there is a "Trade" in the name, its not about maximizing profits, but to spread the word about that you should BUY the software you use, and not steal it. So its a ethical thing, and we support these efforts for both ourself and all the people who use music software out there.

Hereby we invite you to take part in the yearly survey, which also gives you the chance to win some prize:

http://imsta.org/survey.php

Of course, if you like, feel free to discuss the survey here or just comment on it or, well , just take part :)

Thanks
Peter

Where it all begins...

P.L : " (...) I mean, nearly everybody is moaning how bad the world is, how bad people are, and that we need more respect and understanding for each other. I try to put my beliefs in to action through LinPlug, treating people fairly, providing them with a fair value for what they give me, and by showing respect to my customers. "

How it all ends.:?:

Maximizing profits = Where it all begins (Piracy)
Respect, treating people fairly = How it all ends (Ethic)

I recently purchased online a Music Software and due to an issue with their site i was apparently unable to finalize the order by VISA (no other payment method offered); within the span of five minutes i got someone giving me a link to PAYPAL, secondarily hardly encouraging me to buy the more expensive version. Later i realize that my credit card has been debited for the same purchase in that i paid two times the product.

I have been unable to obtain a reply to my emails during one week+ and had to wait another one month+ for my refund to be effective.

I don't want to deal anymore with those people...

Yep, thats understandable. But keep in mind its no always negative intention. For example: maybe it looked as if the order wont come through by VISA and was accepted later on .Such things happen, here too, all this order processing, though it happens thousands of times each day, works 99% well, but sometimes very very strange. Also, the responce times, here too, are very different, not by intention. it could be I just check email when someone orders, and as I have the time i reply the very minute. But later on, it could be I'm not in office, and maybe have to verify an issue first, or not want to get back before I have a final answer, so it takes a week. Well, rarely that long, but it happens.
Moreover a refund can take so long because of delay at the CC company, while paypal usually is quite quick.

Anyway, when it comes all together, I see how this looks. And yes, some treat people different before / after order because of the believe to gain a personal advantage from that :(

Thanks for the heads up. I answered truthfully and believe IMSTA's goal to educate about piracy is a good and better one then taking legal action.

Now, here's for hoping I win me some legit software! :D

I think education only goes so far and must be backed up with a threat of legal action. Appealing to someone's moral code only works if someone actually possesses a moral code, unfortunately.
