There is every chance of a holiday sale, in fact it is a holiday sale 365 days a year with Cytomic :-)

UAD 4k Buss Compressor $249 (uad2 dsp card required)
Waves 4000 Buss Compressor $470* (dongle required)
The Glue Buss Compressor $99

* You can only buy the Waves Buss Comp as a pack costing $1035 that also contains the channel strip , but based on UAD's channel strip costing $299 vs Buss Comp costing $249 I have calculated the expected price if you could buy it alone as $470.

I've had The Glue since very early on and I use it even more often today than I did when it was still new. That says a lot. Plus, with things like oversampling, the peak meter, and other little sound improvements that have occurred, it actually sounds better today than it did on the day I bought it.

If The Glue cost $249, it would be worth it. At $99 it's a steal. With a price that good, it doesn't need to go on sale.

Nothing ever *need* to go on sale, yet companies do them anyway. Why? Because they can tap into the market segment of people who simply can't afford their regular price, then people who are on the fence, then impulse buyers. It's also good for customers because those who can't normally buy what they would like, now can.

As far as doing price comparison, you can always find more expensive, but for every more expensive option, you can also point to a less expensive one. So what, it's completely irrelevant.

Bullshark, nothing ever *has to* go on sale. sometimes it *makes economic sense* to put something on sale. now The Glue aims at a very specific market, which is a market for a software mimicking SSL hardware. it is one of the best if not the best product on this particular market and coincidentally the cheapest one by a far margin. it's author feels no economic, seasonal nor religious incentive to change it's price. this IMHO closes the discussion...

I'm joining the party a bit late, but I thought that it is the right time to tell that I bought "The Glue" last week. The first plugin I added to my personal arsenal since quite some time.

To make a long story short: I'm highly impressed. Working with many of the well-known (and lesser known) analogue bus compressors more or less every day (SSL, API, Neve, Guelph etc.), as well as their virtual sound-alikes (UAD, Waves, SSL) I have to say that to my ears this is the one that holds out against them.

Congratulations, Cytomic!

The plugin is must have if you're mixing ITB.
Apart from brilliant compression, what really sets it apart is peakclip+oversampling feature.
I'm mixing a track where the band wanted to have emergency siren type of sound. They provided me with a sample they created in synth with pitch-mod. Problem is the synth is outputting sines and it sounds too clean for a siren.
Because of that I tried many ITB-distortion solutions and found that they either were too soft or aliasing they produce created some modulated chirp on top of the wave which made the siren sound like some Sci-Fi mumbo-jumbo. Not what I was looking for.
So, I tried The Glue — peakclip on, 16x oversampling. Immediate improvement! Just what I needed.
Right now I'm rendering x256.
Takes time))

Yeah +1 on this, the glue is easily worth a lot more than what it's price is, you'll not find a better compressor around tbh, no disrespect to any others, but it really is that good.

So $99 is a real steal imo.
