There is this one for windows which triggers (i presume) user loaded samples via your computer keyboard (probably like a poor man's SoundPlant 3.9 ;) ) but never the less free:

supershareware Wizardmaster BackToBasics wrote:Trigger samples and loops from your computer keyboard! BackToBasics is the award winning software that allows audio samples to be assigned to keys on the computer keyboard so that the computer can be played as a musical instrument.

Using BackToBasics, you can separately configure 47 keys on your computer keyboard to play any number of stereo sounds at one time (limited only by your sound card) while controlling each sample's pitch, volume, loop type, and more. BackToBasics is geared toward live performance, no delayed quantized playing or locked time signatures and no MIDI sequencing, just real-time triggering of raw or manipulated samples. With BackToBasics you can turn your computer into a truly live audio performance tool. 'Just say NO' to 'just hit play' electronic musicians!
Could be a fun little toy and good for interesting/odd sample triggering. Got to be worthy of our archives :D But yeah mztk i would like a speech synthesis MIDI trigger application with maybe a little built-in .WAV recorder to capture the realtime mayhem and foul mouthed Microsoft Sam or any of the other available speech synth 'characters' bigtime

Well it used to be alot but i am taking it easier these days. It has been working really well in Tom And Jerry Kid's cake mix and also Jam on toast ;) and i don't look like a dodgy stoner buying weird stoner food if i have at least one of the kids with me :hihi:

about skipping across drives trying to produce a single
nicely-organised archive: just picture clicking on folders

whether to archive by author/type, etc etc.=anxiety attack
Yeah that is precisely what happens everytime i have tried to organize stuff across all the sodding drives. I could use something like Iced Audio's Audio Finder 5 v5.x which is sodding well MAC only! Pretty much like trimph1. I do however have the stuff i have commercial license for/payware on one drive and also all the important work with assosiated samples (if appicable) on another drive. It is just the free area and samples i have gathered but not found a use for yet but can not bare to delete - Descion making is my problem i think   not on important stuff but trivial matters but it still drives me insane. How hard can either 'yes' or 'no' be? Extremely so for me
What I've ended up doing, after being buried chest deep in snowbanks for the past 3 days, was to separate the VST's according to whether they be samplers, synths, romplers first. Then separated them further into whether they were done as freeware or payware, then by devs...

Mind, now I had to stick labels on the hard drives to make sure I'm loading them up in the right drive, lol
That is the way i am going to do it also or similar man. Its just at moment i do not have ample space to move everything around to the degree i would like to, hence four 2TB drives will be used first to dump everything in a semi-organized way but not to anal, then formatting all the other drives i have and uber anal-like arrangement of everything so it is all neat and i can find things rapidly. I wish someone would code/release an application like Iced Audio's Audio Finder 5 v5.x as it is MAC only but absolutely top-notch for organizing samples :x If MAC has it why can't us Winner's have it? :(

Did anybody try that Mono Monster listed today in the new plugin entries? Savihost reported some weird error, I tried the other synth from him and it was the general Savihost error.

Look like literally stock Synthmaker parts, assumed to be hooked up direct.

They all run properly here in both Savihost and Cantabile 1.2 on my Windows ME system albeit they are bloody long to initialize, especially the other one, and both extract those saw2KtableSM.dat and tri2KtableSM.dat so perhaps if you are on Vista or 7 they can't do that depending on where they are located. Anyway, nothing too special at all here IMO.

:D exactly !! and then you'll find another way of categorising them,
which will make you wonder whether you should in fact copy them all
over to yet another drive, and ...how about alphabetically?

yeeeah, mac, i realised when i opened it...there's a free version of
a dj mix thing there too...didi anyone notice that the promising-looking
dj vst - which looks great - opens as a fx, and is too big to see the
whole thing? (recent news item )... disappointing..hope it gets fixed.

Now---have a question for you...NIN-OSC VST. This supposedly was to split one's single note off a guitar into 2 oscillators...I came across this in a thread here, made by someone named 'rockstarfx'(?)...all that comes up is 404 not found..anyone? :help:
