SDIY has taken over my life so I wouldn't be surprised at all. It's surprising to me what we can achieve at home, without a machine shop. I simply misunderstood the nature of the project. I read something about Chinese CMs and jumped to conclusions.

It's much like ACE without patch cords, yes. It's basic structure differs from ACE by having only 1 filter.

However, the main difference is that one Tyrell oscillator will mimic the bahaviour of a popular analogue DCO circuit in great detail, while the second oscillator mimics the bahaviour of a VCO from another popular analogue synthesizer. Great attention to detail was given to the envelopes too, which is IMHO a completely underrated and often neglected factor.

The filter is a whole different story. The proposed SEM-style filter is a bit underwhelming to me, so I'm moving towards a free interpretation with a bit more bite.

Urs, I had been hoping you'd do something like this for a long time. I'm much more into small performer synths with fixed routings than modular synths. I think that's why I never clicked with ACE even though I loved the sound of it when demoing. Trell sounds like it's just what I've been waiting for. I await the public beta anxiously.

BTW, you sure you want to give it away?

Urs, when I read Tyrell is a little bit sounding like Ace, I was like "I won't buy Ace now...not gonna need it"
But I just bought it.
I like it, the price is really fair and you deserve support ;)

So now you need to do your part and release Tyrell Beta .g.

Checking amazona almost everyday for Tyrell, since Urs said something about before Christmass!
I guess this is gonna' be one the best free softsynths ever! ... if it matches Ace in quality.

Cheers for Mr. Urs Heckmann! :tu:  :tu:

I'm working my ass off, but it's getting really, really tight - I also have to update my 64-bit betas and move stuff over to the new office...

If not before x-mas then shortly thereafter

Your work and time is highly appreciated. Don't forget to take a rest and have a beer (or 2) and enjoy life. Seeing something like that developed by one of the best developers on this planet makes me jump inside :hyper:

I'm not drinking much beer anymore due to some wheat intolerance thing. But I sussed out Mai Tais (must post my latest recipe in the other thread once...)... wife and I are sharing our second one *burp*

Some really bad memories coming up... from this weird night at Oranienburger Straße, where you thought you really want to have that 2nd Mai Tai... :hihi: I saw Jesus that night! :wheee:
