Hi
On one of the song my band use we use a midi track to start off the song, now when I hit the chord to go into the chorus I want the sequence stop. I have tried assigning one of the notes of the first chord to stop the sequence which it does but then that note on my keyboard is muted or dissabled. How can I program it so that the note still plays?

You are right - that's a problem... Cantabile usually "steals" events - here at an early stage. In locations where there is no "pass-through" option the event is "consumed" then.
On the other hand your assignment strategy is a bit unconventional too. Can't you simply use a foot pedal or another button? Maybe some global assignments to the master transport control will be useful too.
Another idea might be to use dual or layer mode on your controller keyboard - if possible. So you can play the chord notes via one midi channel and use the second layered one to provide the note assignments to stop the media player on another midi channel.
Maybe that's a point to request another option to control the consume behavior of assignments - but on the other hand the assignments are already complex enough...

I already have the transport controls setup for start/ stop etc but at the time I want the midi sequence to stop both my hands are to occupied playing for me to quickly reach out and touch the stop key! The foot pedal would work, just need to get one first (only just started gigging again after 23 years!)I will also look into the layering idea too, will update later.

I'm not sure if this is what you want but you can go into the midi file in an events list editor in a sequencer like Sonar and put a stop control code where you want the file to stop then a start later by keyboard assignment, if that's feasible ?

As far as I remember "stop" is a so called "real time" midi event like midi clock and can't be simply put into a midi file... can it?
