no because I do not use an open mic in that area, If I'm going to do vox or mic my cab it's done in my big walk in closet 20 feet away. My computer is pretty quiet though, it was built by PCaudiolabs in a very silent case and the fridge isn't noisy either (but it's only a few months old). At my old place where I was for 15 years there was no fridge near me, I have not noticed a difference and I'm pretty anal about noise both eletrical and ambient.Zombie Queen wrote:Doesn't computer noise disturb you (not to mention refrigerator noise)?
Browsing these pictures I see that many of those music corners have computer box right next to the chair.
If you think it causes problems when using my monitors, it doesn't...you can't hear it, the boogie fan is louder naturally. There is no electrical interference and the only noise that way I would get is from my Boogie (guitar picking up the transformer) but that is where I store my amp, not use it...it's on wheels and can be moved with two fingers.
Not all of us have the luxury of having a house and a big room to deal with, should we stop making music because of that? I do not have a noise issue, what makes you think every computer is noisy? Is your computer so noisy that it causes you problems?
Come to think of it my laptops are both louder than my DAW and a lot of people also use Laptops
Edit:
You'll have to forgive me Zombie Queen...I'm still somewhat baffled by your question about computer noise (not the fridge). I have two soundcards, one is an Emu 1820 and the other is a Presonus Firestudio 26/26. Neither came with cables longer than two and half feet long, when I worked retail at Mars music (which was a superstore with everything on display) every desk had the computer right there, many audio pc compaines make rackmount computers, muse is rackmount, omnirax makes desks with a space for the computer...I'm kind of thinking that just about everybody has their computer near their chair/desk. Actually how much signal loss would there be if I moved my computer far away? Would it be beneficial or destructive?
