So here we go:
coming in at 0:18
Am i right that the first chord played in the sequence starting at 0:18 is not the same as the first chord in the second loop after the first loop ? it sounds like there is another voice in there, giving it a groovier sound. Could someone explain what is happening here to me ? I know very little theory.

Good ear, Nick! The difference is major chord vs minor at the beginning of each new series. Which one is which?Nickswardson wrote:So here we go:

lol, for a moment i thought you were being sarcastic.
The second one is major? Could you point out to me what chords are being played?

I believe that all the chords are in root position (perhaps you could look up "root position" and "inversions.")
Once you nail the bass notes, experiment with applying triads (look that up) above the notes. Keep comparing what you are playing with what you hear in the video.
You will get it, and your ears will be sharper!

Would you settle for an opinion?
IMO, I've no idea why they subtituted EM for Em there. But the result is yuck! Seems foreign to the overall key of those chords.

Probably because the key of E minor is different to E major...trewq wrote:Would you settle for an opinion?

Yes, in that every-other sequence of chords with EM, the key of the moment was neither E minor nor E major, or a mix of the two...SeanKBrennan wrote:Probably because the key of E minor is different to E major...trewq wrote:Would you settle for an opinion?
