Hi all, I have some Cantabile files that used the plugin Rapture32LE.dll on my laptop. The laptop is toast now unfortunately.

Luckily I backed up the entire Cantabile files in My Documents and also in the
Application Data etc...

I am now working on a PC that uses Rapture.dll I am trying to load
the Cantabile files. Of course cantabile gives me a warning that it can't load the Rapture32LE plug... but this is not my question!

My question is - is there some way I can look at the old cantabile files, or perhaps in the config files - to see what the settings on the Rapture32LE plug were? (Mostly I just want to find what patch they used)

Thanks

Cantabiles config file is a plain text file you can look into with a text editor. However to change that manually isn't recommended.

Did you try to explicitly rescan all the plugins with Cantabile on your new machine? I don't think you need to modify session files for that as Cantabile has advanced search mechanisms to load plugins.

Try "Setup" - "plugin options" - "full scan"

Thanks for the reply.... I should clarify.... the plug on the new PC (Rapture.dll) loads correctly... it's just that it has a different name (has a different plugid I guess) than the one that was on the laptop (Rapture32LE.dll)

I am trying to figure out what the patch settings were for the old plug (since I no longer have it)...

I thought there would be some way to go into the cantabile file manually (text editor or other tool) and see what the plug settings were for the original plug.

Sure hope someone can help...

Oh, I see, I got you wrong.

I guess you should try to reinstall Rapture32LE.dll if possible. I can't see a way how cantabile should look into patchdata without the needed plugin. But even if, how to transfer that to another plugin? ...the comfort of "total recall" is also it's weakness... it works only if the "total" set of plugin is there too... :-o

I don't believe looking into the session file would be of much help too... :?

Thanks, can't reinstall the Rapture32LE plug as I no longer have it - it was part of a Sonar package...

So guess I am stuck...

As a work around I tried renaming the plug name but of course Cantabile noticed that the plug id's are different and burped.

If I could somehow look in the cantabile file itself and change the plugid -
- or edit the configs to fool the software to load Raptured.dll thinking it is the old plugid - this should work - as I'm pretty sure the plugs are essentially the same - but I can't figure a way to do it.

Serves me right for not saving the banks as a separate file!

These types of problems are going to come up a lot in the future as people move to new fancier plugs that are Win7, 64 bit or highter. The software should allow you to edit the rack setups manually - or do global search and replace or plugs across multiple sets.

Yes, that does not work... I've tried that myself in another circumstance too.

It's not just the plugin id, as far as I know the patches/banks contain this id too, so you would need to match both - not to mention to make sure compatibility.

If you activate your PM I can give you some more hint's but I do not want to post these here as standard info...

Maybe this is indeed a point Cantabile could probably add some features to help migrating such things in future - but who knows?
