This bridge isn't for alternate tunings. Get a Trilogy for alternate tunings:

Floyds being the key and not Floyd (each tuned different), I realise it's intended for one thing and I have to wonder how much is one willing to pay for something most of us do naturally? Part of the charm of the guitar is it's not perfect, I sure prefer to keep it this way. I've actually had the fortune of playing one of the original Transperformance systems quite a bit, I didn't see the point because it doesn't work with whammy which is the only time going out of tune while playing is a big concern.

Of course I am also the guy who hates new strings and face it, old strings stay in tune. Another thing with alternate tunings is if you're using an open tuning it's very easy to notice if you're out of tune and what string is the offending string. Cool gadget but probably not for me, but nothing wrong with it either.

edit: technically I have more hardtails than guitars with whammys

I wasn't looking for another guitar, but a small shop has opened locally and in the window is a rather attractive Vintage guitar. LP shape with a single angled bridge pup, it looks very basic and has what I consider a reasonable price tag of just under £180.

I've tried to find it online for more info with no luck so far, I may have to call in for a closer look, with my wallet of course, just in case

Beyond the shape, nothing like that. This one is a solid red colour, single angled bridge bucker with what appears to be a very, very skinny neck with plain dot markers. The pup has 2 black covers with the name Vintage in white on them.

P-90 stack instead of humbucker, but apart from that ...

Not recommended for mailorder, but if you can play it before buying and have a place to claim your warranty in case ...
Build quality is all over the place, but at least the Wilkinson hardware is decent and the basic wood recipe is correct. Who knows, you might be lucky ...
Considering however that real Gibsons start below 500 GBP new I fail to see the appeal of such a copy somehow, especially since those budget Gibsons are mighty fine guitars, we discussed that before.

Nope, this guitar is a full LP body shape with a angled bridge bucker. Barring the pup it's not a million miles away from a Melody Maker/LP Junior. Thomann had the MM's listed at £280 but are seemingly no longer stocked. I'm more curious about this guitar than wanting it, but one things tends to lead to another doesn't it?

And re Melody Makers, there are the Jones whoever Brothers and the Joan Jett signature models now, as well as a choice of cheap LPs and other models, the PUs in the discontinued MMs were horrible imho, which does make a difference when you're on a budget.
Can't argue with a pair of P-90s or a BB3 ...

I'd be seriously thinking about doing the same thing...

I'm still re-muddling my el-cheapo mod guitar...had to rout the thing a bit more so I could add another pickup--then replaced the dang things with a pair of EMG's...
