You could switch the True PPG mode to 2.V mode (besides True PPG off, Wave 2.2 or 2.3 modes), that should do it AFAIK. Anyway the new version is closer to the original synth. If you want the real 2.V sound you could get the Waldorf Edition. Together with the upgrade to PPG 3.V this is currently cheaper as buying the PPG 3.V full version at the next year (59 Euros for Waldorf Edition + 99 Euros for the upgrade). This is a hint for those who didn't revognize this...Buka wrote:they could have included 2.v filter in there so tha patches from 2.v sound like 2.v ....come on guys, include it
love the 3.v though
not quite shure this will tun the filter algorithm to 2.v version...gonna try it when i get home....dis 3.v version is mutch brighter soundingIngonator wrote:You could switch the True PPG mode to 2.V mode (besides True PPG off, Wave 2.2 or 2.3 modes), that should do it AFAIK.Buka wrote:they could have included 2.v filter in there so tha patches from 2.v sound like 2.v ....come on guys, include it

how could it be the same filter?!Scot Solida wrote:According to an e-mail exchange I had with Wolfram Franke, it's actually the same filter as before... it's the envelopes that are different.
To me it sounds different too but if you use the filter drive or the 12dB slope it will sound different for sure. The envelopes are much different to the 2.V version too, much closer to the original behavior. The True PPG settings have an big influence on the sound too, especially with some bell like or more percussive sounds.Buka wrote:how could it be the same filter?!Scot Solida wrote:According to an e-mail exchange I had with Wolfram Franke, it's actually the same filter as before... it's the envelopes that are different.
its much brighter and resonance is more static, precise ...maybe im deaf but this is not the same algorithm to my ears, close but not the same...Doc, Ingo, what say you?
Will be interesting to read that reviewScot Solida wrote:As I said, my information about the filter comes from Wolfram Franke himself. I compared the filter to my Wave 2.2 and it's almost identical. The envelopes on the Wave 2.V were not similar to those on the real PPG, but these new envelopes are pretty danged close. They aren't quite the same as those on my own Wave 2.2, since they were modeled on a Wave 2.3. Still, they are very, very close.
I don't want to go into any more detail, since my review of the Wave 3.V will appear in the next issue of Computer Music. Suffice it to say that in head-to-head, setting-for-setting comparisons, the 3.V is nail-bitingly close to the real thing.
I was waiting for someone like yourself who owns a real PPG Wave to weigh in on the authenticity of 3.V, Scot. It's cool to hear that it gets a Wave owner's seal of approval.I don't want to go into any more detail, since my review of the Wave 3.V will appear in the next issue of Computer Music. I you like to have the Virus sound you could use my Hypersaw samples which are delivered with my factory sounds...Vectorman wrote:in the midst of so many Virus-esque VA's, it definitely stands out as something different.
Is a USB dongle required?Ingonator wrote:From today on the full version of Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V is also available as a download version:

No, but you do have to authorize it! The eLicenser is installed with the product; you then have the option of authorizing it to either your hard drive, or a USB dongle.boygreen wrote:Is a USB dongle required?Ingonator wrote:From today on the full version of Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V is also available as a download version:
