I went trough the the entire process again.
I downloaded the installer again, uninstalled and re installedd
magnetic. I requested a new authorization.Even with the new authorization
The GUI still says DEMO 1.3.
Nomad factory support ,suggested cubase may need to rescan. Doesn't cubase Rescan every time it's launched?
Thanks again Bill

I stopped using Cubase and switched to Reaper 4 because of Steinberg's issues like slowness, crashes during vst scanning, and certain (licensed) plugs not showing up. But if I remember correctly you need to do a full re-scan of your plugs. It's like telling Cubase to clear it's cache of what plugs it's got to work with re-build the list.

BTW, I had the demo of Magnetic in Reaper and when I brought the license, a re-scan of my plugs was all that was needed to get the demo on the GUI to disappear.

No, it only scans new plugins, the rest are handled by the "plugin manager" after the first scan.

If you want Cubase to rescan a single plugin you could just change it's location (inside your VSTPlugins folder, of course) or rename the folder where it is.

so what changes in 1.3?

I finally got cubase to update the plugins.I hit the update button and the
update plugin info button, but cubase still shows magnetic Demo 1.3.I also
put magnetic in a dedicated plugin folder.I tried magnetic in an expired demo copy of reaper, no luck.I did get magnetic to work in my win xp computer.

Are you using the serial you have for your XP computer?
Each serial is related to one computer. If you want to install in another computer you have to request a new serial!

CHANGES - MAGNETIC V1.3.0 (01-03-2011)

Removed internal DC offset option, the added DC option was causing problems to Magnetic and not required as Magnetic doesn't generate DC offet.
Minor and global fixes for Mac and PC.

But I've still no latency information in Cubase Studio 5.5.2 64-bit!
Edit: Solved - press in Cubase "Update VST-Plugin" and "Update Plugin Information" or delete the Cubase database file "Vst2xPlugins.xml"!

I'm using the same serial #.I authorized the win 7 computer first.
I requested 2 authorizations for that computer, still in demo mode.
I then requested an auth for the xp machine which worked.I think they only give 1 serial #.
Thanks again, Bill

Post

This is strange.

Ok, is your UAC on in win7?

Post

Thanks Hibidy,
UAC is off.Remember, I have the Sc226,WHich works fine! When I first tried to authorize,It said, too many spaces in the serial #.I re copied the serial #,
ran the auth tool again, authorization successful!Magnetic front panel says.Demo 1.3.The license for magnetic is in the same folder as the license for the sc 226.

I keep racking my head trying to think of anything that could be causing this :?

I'll keep thinking about it.........there HAS to be a logical reason. So, NF hasn't been able to offer suggestions????

Post

I got 1 reply from them. They said to make sure the licenses are stored in the right place and that cubase may need to re-scan.I wonder if there is a bad entry in the registry?

Thanks again.

Hmmm, so what to do now? Who should contact d16 and telling them about DC offset in Drumazone?

I'm curious about this plugin, but i'm more curious about what it is marketed as. This is the excerpt from the official website:
Before large hard disks became economical enough to make hard disk recorders viable, studio digital recording meant recording on digital tape. Mitsubishi's ProDigi and Sony's Digital Audio Stationary Head (DASH) were the primary digital reel-to-reel formats in use in recording studios from the early 1980s through the mid 1990's. With the MAGNETIC, Nomad Factory has captured the essence of DASH technology and made the sound of high-fidelity digital tape recording available in plug-in format.
An excerpt from the Wiki:
One significant advantage offered by DASH recorders over the analogue recorders of the day was that 'proper' tape biasing was unimportant, as there is no means for the tape to 'colour' the sound of the recorded data. <...> Due to this fact, the formulation of tape does not change the sound quality, unlike analogue machines which must be set for specific formulae.
In other words, the plugin is simulating a digital tape. If i understand the technology correctly, any digital medium (be it tape, hard drive or whatever) introduces no saturation and doesn't color the sound. So what exactly this plugin is simulating?
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.
