Hi,

I need some help creating chord progressions and wonder if there is any good books/websites available to help with this? I want to make jazzy chord progressions that are introspective, perhaps uplifting & deep. Is there any advice here that people could offer as well? I know a little about circle of fifths, but wonder, if this is the only way in which progressions are created? (Seems a little simple) I'm not the most capable of improvisers, only basic player, so playing around isn't a great option. Please help. Many Thanks.

the more you listen the better you will grasp the idea behind these kind of chords.

those are some of their qualities :
* they have a lot of space
* they usually use minor progressions techniques, but not always
* the progressions are hollow in some places, means 4th chords and such

so it is basically a basic music theory with very few extensions about chords structures and similar subjects.

when you build your chord progression you want it not to color the atmosphere too much, 4th chords can help you achieve this task most of the time.

4th chords are at least 3 notes stacked about 4 notes away like :
A-D-G or C-F-Bb or B-E-A

there are more techniques behind deep house and such genres, but that's for another time, I hope I have been helpful ebough, if you question you are welcome to ask.

have a great day.
