Near the end it says "First quarter 2011" - and I happened to have just talked to our CEO and it looks like it won't be too long into the quarter, definitely not the end. Progress is great on both hardware and software (considering both are being used and stable at CES right now, that's a good sign).

We've been good about almost all new products. Unfortunately we hit some bumps with StealthBoard but we're doing well overall these days :) Thankfully.

Peter, there seems to be a big difference between the "singer recording" audio demo and the "close distance voiceover recording" sample, which has a lot of hiss in the background.

Can you tell us anything about how you overcame the frequency range limitations on the Mic In in the iPhone?

Thanks!

They were done in different countries, and by different people. Don't let it go to the Italy office's collective heads though PLEASE (theirs sounds better)...

I can't, honestly. Perhaps support could get the technical details but it does work surprisingly well, eh?

first quality condenser handheld microphone ?

I'm curious (honestly) if you're aiming for a portable solution, in which case why would it be a better choice over the above, or if you're aiming more to integrate the iPhone into a studio (obligatory ) in which case some sort of XLR adaptor would be better (and they do exist also).

I know I'll be proven wrong, but do people honestly want a basic condenser microphone and cable plugged into an iPhone (or iPod touch, or iPad) ?

NB: This is not intended to slag-off IK in any way - I'm just really mystified at the thought process here. Whilst I can see guitarists making use of the basic iRig, I just can't see it for vocalists.

That doesn't look like a handheld mic to me... ;) I guess if you hold the device as the handle, but I think people know what we mean.

If we were to put these effects into AmpliTube or offer shuttling audio files between (I'll post about the possibilities about this elsewhere and as any progression that may occur does occur) there's a good use for both iRig Mic and iRig for a large market from what we're seeing. Also, singer/songwriter throwing ideas down singing and playing acoustic at the same time, or speaking applications, etc are what sparked this.

I do understand you aren't slagging us off in any way, and I totally understand your points. I believe that the vocal applications will be, by far, the most popular and most people who use it won't take advantage of the switch on the mic at all :)

Wow, we've got a raving fan there I guess! Either way, this is coming soon and can be used for more than vocals and with more apps than just VocaLive. The audio demos have some other examples of its uses: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/irigmic/audiodemo - I guess I'm just on a bit of a mission to make sure people actually utilize that three-position switch on the mic :)
