Is there any way to either get my midi device's sound to be routed into actual recorded audio?

Is there any free VSTi's that play MIDI notes as GM sound patches?
How about a free soundfont VST and a soundfont package with all the GM standard sounds?

Yes, if it has an "line out" connection.
You can try the headphones exit as well.

Well, now that I have soundfonts, I think I'd rather use that then the MIDI device on my computer, which sounds very poor in comparison.

Also, I use Line6 POD GX which has no output recording abilities, so recording output is not in question.
