There are a lot of free patches, wave forms etc... LOTS....

it would be cool if we could put it all together, all the the patches organized by instruement and style, all the oscilator waves , mseg's etc...

Now...

is there a way where we could use some kind of svn online , so we could add files, all the users and make a community effrot to put all this togheter ?

thanx !

I'd suggest setting up a shared Dropbox folder - then anyone who has made a free bank can post here to give their agreement (or not) to placing them in the shared folder. Once they are uploaded we could decide between us how best to organise them and the work could be a collective effort

Anyone need a Dropbox referral? (here's mine http://db.tt/RuHywXm)

Isn't there this already? - http://www.u-he.com/PatchLib/

Or did you want a different way of organising these things?

That's a useful resource but I think he means more like the Synth 1 and Oatmeal collections of all presets in one organised Zip and also including the osc presets etc

Post

this would be very good. i change often my computer and have no clou which free presets i tried and have in my preset folder. same with oscillators ...
a zip file would be nice that i can download with all free presets and oscillator waves ... that i can put in the uhe folder and all is fine.
i am a hardcore preset user and bought a lot of commercial banks for zebra, so a all in one free preset zip would be great!

It would be interesting to implement in zebra preset update mechanism or write a utility to do it automatically.

Thankyou. Yes I use it a lot for online collaboration - musical and academic (even with my PhD supervisor). Plus a great way to ensure I have backups of key documents in the cloud (and that I can access and edit using my iPhone too)

The referral system is a great incentive as if people sign up through a referral (as opposed to directly) they and the referrer both get an extra 250 MB space each time.

[EDIT] Sorry Amused , have u used the referal ? i get a normal "create account page" if so ... lets use it for this right ? let me know ;) [EDIT]

Cool , lets use that referal then ,

i can do it , then ill post here the username and password....

could be :

Username : zebrapatches

Password : organizing

the intention is to organize the patches by type ,

like bass , piano , drums etc... but inside zebra, like the factory patches are now...

then if this works right it could be officialy added to zebra , or as an unofficial free download... :D

i'll start getting things done... then we can decide how to distribute work so that we don't double organize the same fiolders and finish faster :)

any ideas ?

If you're going to get this started then I recommend a few things to do it right and make it really nice.

1. get the patch author's permission to do this to their patches. Even though they're free to use some don't allow you to re-distribute modified versions. And technically adding info fields is modified patches.

2. Since you'll be grouping by type and not by artist you may consider adding the artist info + web page to the info section of the patch. A lof the patches were made before Zebra added the info field.

3. It might be worth considering the "standard" naming conventions of the Zebra 2.5 factory for consistency, such as using the suffix '+' to denote a patch with XYs mapped and info sections listing all modulation sources either on the XY page or in the info section.

I'll try to help out too when I can, this is something I've always wanted but never had the time to do myself. I've secretly been hoping Urs does something similar to Cable Guys' Curve web rating and patch sync. Who knows, maybe he will. :)

+1 for dropbox

I'm sorry but please don't include my presets in that distribution.
One reason is Dropbox is blocked here, and in some other countries as well.
The other is I don't feel that mixing the authors presets is a good thing imo.
It has to do with some notes (patch info etc) and other information included with the patches.

Blocked! Really, where is it? China?
And yes mixing patches of different authors is no-good after so generous patch sharing.
What I'm really dreaming of, is preset tagging system in Zebra, like Native Instruments products have.

what if i do it in Mediafire ?

still so, you dont want your patches to be used ?

one question , why do you guys think is a bad idea to mix them all toghether ?

is just a matter of ease of use to find , basses, leads etc...

imagine i want a bass , there are 20 folders , in each folder there are some bass patches...

woulndt it be easier for me to have all the bass sounds in one folder? all leads in another and so on... ?
