Using Noscript Jim so it is not popup windows. It is an actual browser exploit designed to attack vunerabilities in a browser and not a popup, although it could be a false positive reported by my AV. Just thought I would let people know. If a variety of other AV software used by other people don't detect it, then chances are it was a false positive.
Better safe than sorry I guess.

Possibly my AV detected the exploit within a link contained in a pop-up
but because I had NoScript enabled, I did not see a pop-up anyway.

Maybe there was something malicious detected in a pop up then. As I'm using Noscript I did not see any pop-ups, and script would not have been able to execute anyway with Noscript enabled unless it was directly located at www.mediafire.com as I whitelisted it to allow download. I'm guessing that my Internet security detected something suspicious (possibly a pop-up - contained a link to malicious site or something) but as said I saw no pop-up because I'm using Noscript and did not notice anything being blocked at the time.

I took down my Vsts as a courtesy to the original sound makers on freesound.org as not to offend them. I had mis understood the cc licence and wanted to make amends.
There were some nasty e-mails and such about this from some uniformed sources but in the end i decided to just take the lot down and avoid all of the hassle that came with this debate.

Pop-ups are often bad, twice when I used IE, visiting sites w/ads I got viruses and had to reformat entirely. Solved when I started prompting for cookies.

Firefox works great, those Mediafire popups only come up if you don't uncheck the checked box.

I just went over to Gersic.com, and had a look round. It's been hijacked by porn links in the forum/announcemnts. Are there any mods/administrators other than T who we (or more accurately - you) can contact ? Otherwise the site looks doomed.
Making a list of everything that I could only find (and got) at gersic, just in case.

Hey Necromare, thanks for the great vsts. Sorry to hear you had nasty emails, but you often get those sort of things coming from people on music forums like this one, generally they are just people wanting to stir up crap,so I would not take any notice.

That is not suprising, as he hasn't been updating his site on a regular basis for a long time now. If the site has been Hijacked by porn links then there is a chance it could contain some form of malicious malware that could be harmful to your computer. I would advise anyone not to go to that site, but rather try to contact Tom or the website provider.
