I love the way it sounds!

However, the one thing I hate is it does not seem to save the settings within the song, so I have to save them for each instance of the VST. This is time consuming and tedious. It is annoying enough that I have decided to ditch it.

I am myself looking for a good replacement and for now I am just using my Sampletank (which is "eh quality")

I use to laugh at it but now that i heard it it wasn't so bad. I was sure it wa going to be crap for some reason.

One of the best "ready to go" orchestral plugins, very light on HD and CPU and has a good sound too.

If by good you mean something dull, lifeless, and badly recorded then it's not only good, but fantastic.

I'd recommned GPO 3 instead. And if price isn't an issue, Symphobia 1 & 2

If you know what you are doing you don't need multi GB sound libraries. I've done excellent things with a 32MB library for Akai in the past. Talking about orchestral mockups the magic happens at programming, hyper realistc samples are nothing without the right knowledge.

No. I contacted Roland some months ago and they said so. I loved Orchestral a lot and wanted to keep using it but they said they are unable to change the rather annoying insert-me-every-other-week CD-ROM method to challenge-response because the software team has already been dissolved and the software won't be Win 7 compatible.

Maybe you should tell us what other orchestral vsts you have so far checked out or tried.

If you would have settled with Edirol Orchestral, GPO 4 is a mindblower. It is very simple to use (after reading the manual). It also comes with a friendly and helpful community, over at Northernsounds.com. Probably the most resource friendly of the plugins mentioned here as well.

Miroslav has great sounds, but its all single patches, and require some set up. I bought it at the VI Group buy, not shure if I would have gotten it at full price tho'.

If strings is what you are after, nothing beats the Kirk Hunter Group buy at the moment. 125$ for solo, chamber, half symphonic and full symphonic sections. One day left btw!

I'm about to update my strings/orchestral stuff at the end of the month and plan to get LASS Lite (have ONLY heard good things about this and the demos sound great) and VSL Special Edition. Have used VSL stuff at my friend's studio and it is very versatile and realistic.

I've always had a soft spot for Miroslav, but it really has been overtaken in recent years.

That Kirk Hunter group buy sounds like excellent value for money, although I personally haven't been persuaded by its sound in demos I've heard. But the bang for your buck is clear.

Also, East West Symphonic Orchestra is currenly on a half price NAMM sale. I've been tempted, but prefer the VSL sound. But at half price you get one heck of a lot of sound for relatively little outlay.

GPO is pretty killer bang for the buck, imo. It's not a multi-thousand dollar library, but i've found it to be pretty useful over the years. I'm currently trying to decide between vsl or the subscription EW stuff as a step up at the moment, but i'm sure i'll probably still use GPO4 from time to time.

I also have Miroslav, but the sustained string volume ramping drives me up the wall, so i haven't used it.

Edirol Orchestral any good?
