So sweet! We've still got the ESP Vipers here but they're more like Les Pauls with SG horns, given their size, weight, and sound.
yeah but which one makes a better canoe paddle? :hihi:

Sorry Ian, it's in my blood...congrats :)
In ruff waters wouldn't the lame glue neck SG snap clean of though?
The ESP/LTD neck-thru and/or bolt neck Vipers would get the longboat further i would of thought?

But, But, But:

'Nough Said Hink. In my book yourself or anybody else in the universe can not argue against that duo (plus a cranked Laney and a rangemaster)

What does a John Birch guitar tell us about Gibson paddles ?

Sorry, just had to ...

Don't worry, I got you mate. :)
That's the 1st row of smileys ...
But if you hit Hink over the head with a virtual canoe paddle better make it a real Gibson, he's been working so hard on deserving it ! :P
That's the 2nd row of smileys ...

Only joking, folks ... :D

John Birch>Birch Bark Canoes>Gibson not fit to paddle John Birch (but john knows a bitch in boston who will do it for 20 bux)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

So, the majority vote is for canoe paddle, an expensive one at that, should I start a 'My next canoe' thread?

I'm uber impressed with this SG, the only downside is several of my other guitars will struggle to get a look in now and will probably end up with For Sale signs on their cases :(
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

haha! I know that feeling.

Oh, and what is this bs of not providing pics :x :hihi:

Post

Pics will come before long, but be warned, I've yet to take a decent pic of any of my guitars so don't expect too much from them.

I'll try again when it's a bit lighter, I took half a dozen last night but they were all terrible  The only thing that is purring about this guitar atm is myself, of my cats, only Bola has seen it and he ran even faster than usual when he sees me with a guitar :hihi:

Can't argue with a good quality guitar. :tu:
Have fun and play it a lot ... 8)

A word of caution :
You might or might not be aware this SG is nitro finished - arguably the best sounding guitar finish there is - but it doesn't get along well with solvents.
Watch carefully what comes into contact with the guitar, some suspects :
- cheap guitar stands, get a good one that's nitro certified, e.g. I like Ultimate, for several reasons
- leaning it against an amp might or might not hurt the finish, Fender Tweed is ok, Peavey Tweed not for example.
A folded clean cotton cloth in between goes a long way.
- don't laugh, a friend ruined a brand new Les Paul last year by wearing a Lynyrd Skynyrd tour shirt on stage - he sweats a lot and the printed material really softened the lacquer and completely ruined the backside.
With a bit of caution however and the use of proper guitar cleaner you'll be fine.

Sorry if you already knew that ...

I didn't, so thanks for the warnings/info :tu:

It'll be strictly home use only and the only time it won't either be in it's case or on my lap is when it's resting on my bed waiting to be put back in the case. The variety of sounds/tones I can get with this and my cheap'n'cheerful Microcube, VOX AD15VT and Korg AX1500GT has blown me away tbh. Hugely, mega impressed :D
