One of the reasons StealthPlug and Co are utter nonsense for anybody with an ASIO card, you can't have two ASIO drivers active at the same time, so how are you going to monitor while tracking ?

Yes the USB is not at all a concern really, in that youtube thread people were moaning that Thomman sold them that iso cab but without the USB thing but that months ago  Thanks for confirming it is a 12" and rough esitmate of the euro damage...i may just make it the one my friend :)

Perhaps they will do a model sans USB AD/DA thing and knock a ton off of the price - that would be good!
the new model due out early next month has no usb

Did a bit of research and found this :
http://www.tt-cabs.com/tt_produkte/iso- ... info-e.pdf
Seems about reasonable from my own experience, still have a huge iso cab in my cellar, home built (wouldn't fit through any door) about 1m each side, 44mm fibre wood, holds a 412 plus mics.
One of the biggest failures I ever created  , and that's saying a lot.
Perfect, except for 2 details :
- inner damping (sounds completely boxy and ugly)
- outside damping ( even one floor higher you can't dial in anything cause cab rumble from the cellar is immense.

I was hoping a smaller, pro version would work better - apparently not, judging by this honest document.
Now how much is a concrete cellar room in the garden ?

that's interesting but it really has me wanting the jet city even more, do you feel it does not do an adequate job or do you not like the damping? In all honesty the jet city looks tighter cabs you found so I expect similar results. Those results are pretty much exactly what I would like and I'm not going to be pushing so that when the door is open it will be above 90db...I'm not expecting to run my boogie all out or anything. But in my situation that cab makes sense as a perfect companion to what I'm doing now.

That's the beauty of these low powered micro-tube heads, running with the attenuator is sweet but it's sweeter when you attenuate less if that makes sense. If I try to knock down the volume by 75-100% the results do not make it worth it using the weber, I might just as well barely turn the master up. However if I take the amp up some and attenuate it less I cut some volume but get better tone but obviously louder. I should be able to run any such low wattage head with enough power to sound it's best and hurt the tubes the least using the weber and iso cab.

I played the new Access/Kemper amp modeler today and it's seriously impressive. They had it displayed together with a Dual Rectifier and I was able to make them sound nearly identical. It works by analyzing the sound of your own amp (maybe dynamic convolution?) and, from what I could tell, there's nothing stopping you from adding stomp boxes in the signal path to be included in the analysis/replication.

Speaking of Jet City, they had all their new products on display, including a couple new channel switching amps. They go from crunch to lead, no clean in sight!

It has begun, I am bothering my wife because even heavily attenuated my 15W tube amp is still a LOT louder than my amp sims. And heavy attenuation kind of starts to starve the tone out of it, so I want to turn it up a little louder...

But I have to say, I did NOT expect this 1x12 cab to sound as big and massive as my 4x12 oversized V30 cab. I'm leaving the stock speaker in, whatever they've got going on in this thing is just perfect. I have played worse sounding big cabs that cost a grand. This has much, much more impact and "chug" factor than it has any right to, I think... If anything, it's like my Univalve handles this one speaker more easily than the 4, but I had 100W'ers into that big sucker too, and none of them sounded better than this. Amazed at how nice it sounds. $129 is a STEAL.

But reminded of how loud "real" is, too, and that miking up is kind of a pain in the ass. Alright, Overloud, get that TH2 patch out so I can compare the THD model to the real thing and see where we stand.

Are you referring to the Jet City JCA12S? I saw the JCA12XS today and it's tiny, not much larger than the speaker itself. This is sure to affect the sound to some degree but I'm sure the portability of it will be worth it to some. Also, the convertible back is a cool option.

I'm talking about the "conventional" one, the XS is barely big enough to fit the speaker! I bet it still sounds good, probably a lot more treble heavy though (and if it's using the same speaker, that could be a problem; the cab on this is dimensioned pretty much just right to give the correct amount of mid-bass resonance required to offset the brightness of a 1x12 configuration, so it's got a good tonal balance, by no means flat - flat is boring for guitars - but it plays nicely with my bright amp; I would be surprised if the smaller model did the same).

It wouldn't take much extra space to fit two 12" speakers in here, I think there's actually just enough room that it could be instead a 2x10 "diagonal" arrangement cab. It sounds big, but not boomy. Doesn't fart out on lows, even with my fattest sounding fuzz pedals, even with my amp's bass cranked.

I just really can't believe it's $129. Like, what? There's gotta be some evil karmic balancing factor at work here, maybe it's lined with Narwhal horn shavings or baffled with cured elephant ears or something...

I've never had a chance to try another iso cab than my own monstrosity, so I can't speak for the sound.
I doubt I could work with these iso cabs even in the neighbouring room, and I don't really want to use an attenuator / keep the master (which master ?) low or similar workarounds, then I'll rather stick to my current workflow with preamps for the time being.
These micro amps look nice in theory, but :
a) I bought my current amps for their sound, so I want to get that sound, not any other, maybe also good sound. Call me crazy ...
b) I have a Peavey Royal 8 (Class A 8W) which sounds horrible on its own but gets a beautiful Keef crunch when dimed over a 412, but that's loud  - my Angel is not that much louder ...
Considering I plan to move house over the next two years anyway I'll rather build me some concrete bunker in the cellar or sunk somewhere in the garden. 8)

hmmm...to each his own I guess but you bought your amps for the sound but you would rather stick to your pre-amp rig right now...maybe it's me that's crazy but how good do the amps sound if you're not using them? I'm not thrilled with the 'in theory' part about the micro heads but coming from you I realise right from the start YMMV ;)

However I do not want others who look up to you for your opinion to be mislead so I just want to emphasize that these micro tube heads do not want for sound at all in fact I think the tonal range is increased considerably. Let me state though that I do not like my music extremely loud, I do not want a wall of sound but instead I like to hear the nuances of the sound (talking home entertainment here) so my view may vary a lot.

I do wonder if your homemade deadbox might benefit from the Ted Weber Beam Blocker

after read susiwong's link I never considered the damage possibly done to a condensor so I'm thinking the need to mod the cab is greatly reduced (though I do wonder if I might swap out the speaker with one of my celestions)

Hink,
I can relate to many points you made.
I'm not a loud music listener anymore (a few exceptions ... ), but the classic tones I hear in my head have been played loud, very loud for the most part, and I get them with my amps, no questions asked.
I can crank my Heartbreaker @ 4 o'clock in the morning for an hour no problem, believe me, that's loud and it's wonderful 8) .
The flip side of the coin however : in order to play well I need to hear my guitar embedded in the mix, maybe 10% louder than it will end up, not more.
My problem is monitoring the music when playing that loud, not the amp per se.
And I have extreme headphonophobia. :-o
So I sacrifice some tone for the time being in favour of musical interaction, so to say.
Don't know if that makes any sense ...

The amps I buy now are kind of an investment in my future little studio with dead room  , and meanwhile I enjoy playing them loud, some I use live, and the preamps are a decent workaround for recording.

The beam blockers - good call, but my problems were with low frequencies.
You need mass to properly deal with them, so the Gizeh pyramids might fit the bill better. :hihi:

Dunno, I'm searching like each and every one here, maybe in a slightly different, crazy way.
Ymmmcv,
susiwong
