when i port it, which depends on its success, then yes, there will be an AU version too.

Hey there,

I finally got some time to test this one.
My impressions:
- the UI is a pain to use. The fonts are so small that I can't read anything(even worse than the elysia alpha comp >.<) and the knobs react very slow on input(Reaper v3.74).
- some knobs have strange values. for example, what does a ratio of 0.33625 mean? does 0.22125 release equal ~22ms ?
- I'm missing a bypass button for smooth A/B comparison and a makeup gain control
- no mousewheel support makes me sad panda :(
- Soundwise I didn't get any good results but I didn't really try it because of the GUI problems. With an useable GUI I would probably give it another shot.

btw, I didn't get a nag screen

Cheers,
Doc

thats odd. totally fluid here, same host.

some the paramter ranges are tuned by ear and have no real world meaning. i'll measusre / calculate the release and attack times and put them on the gui for the final release. ratio ranges from 1:1 to infnity. since this works not like a classical compressor, i did not bother to label it as that.

control
yes...though of that too. will probably be there.

This is a Synthmaker limitation. It will be there in the final version.

sad to hear that . i think it sounds great, and i hope you'll try again when i release the next version:). The GUI will have complete new code under the hood.

thats not good.

i hope i did not disappoint you that much with the payware reality.
I'm not at all disappointed....there are better things out there that ARE free! :hihi:

Hi
I tried it briefly : the knob behaviour was indeed very strange (slow to react), and the text is very hard to read (despite the very nice gui).
I wouldlike to be able to view the input/output metering, as well and at the same time as the gain reduction.
Reaper 3.74 here too.

So it seems, that it's NOT a Wavelab "only" issue...

can you point me to a limiter wich is free that you would prefer?
i know quite a lot of them, but maybe i'm missing something.
i'd like to know what you prefer over this.
i really like the soft sound of my limiter. also i like the fact that it does not break up (audible distortion) like the ones i compared it to when aiming at a similar sound.

yes. I suspect it's a trigger feedback causing the gui to redraw too often or something else related.
however, i'm already porting to c++. The gui code will have another approach anyways.

Reaper 3.74 here too.
so you would like to have a second meter for gain? I consider to make two meters, both with switchable input/output/GR.

Seems like my taste for sound is not that common :D. i compared my plugin to a lot of limiters, popular free ones and payware ones, and i prefered mine a lot of the time. but to be honest, i have a limited range of material i'd like limiters on anyways, so it could be that you use it entirely different than me. plus i'm not a big fan of modern professional sound most of the time. modern sound can be as good as anything else thought, but as a general trend i prefer "older" sound.

cheers!

The competition you're looking at in the free area is going to definitely mostly be coming from Loudmax, which is currently the one to beat:

http://loudmax.blogspot.com/

The closest competitors to that are going to be signaldust's TSClip and 4L2.

http://www.signaldust.com/

Possibly the only other free ones that can hope to compare with those are going to be Antress' Limiter, the W1 (effectively a waves L1 clone) or maybe the Aradaz Maximizer 5.

thanks...i knew them(except the one from atress of course). i used buzzmaxi3 for quite some time. the tbt ones sound nice for shure. i used the old TLsmaximiser a lot on the master bus too, but i always ended up replacing the newer ones like LEA, Pocket limiter and Saturated driver (as clip limiter) thought.

cheers!
