Do you have to install ezdrummer/gtr rig le to do the hack on windows or is just the file name enough? I don't need either.

And on osx? anyone?

How about resale? Are ezdrummer + gtr rig le usable standalone? I'd like to sell them for a dollar or two if I can.

And uhh I'm not sure posting about the hack on the presonus forums was a good idea. I expect this to be patched out soon.

So what do you do for checking out the loop material? ... I don't work with them normally - never have actually and I thought I'd give Studio One the opportunity to show me what loops are all about. Do you drop them onto keys of the sampler? or onto pads of impact? Any info for Loop Neub ?

drag 'em and drop them where desired (at least that is what is working here)

I don't really do loops either, but I probably will just to get my moneys worth....all 20.11 of it

Yeah i think so cause they have show up in S1 first before you can do that hack. There's no option to set a vst folder but S1 finds it automatically once it's installed on your hd.

I think Presonus are ok with it. They probably could have blocked it by now if they weren't. Don't quote me on that though!

Seriously, I bought it first just because it was $20.11. Greed, y'know. Now I like it more and more. Great workflow, nice GUI, pleasant on the eye. But most of all, I suddenly realized that I love the fact I have no more VST/i's (except for Kore Player & EZDrummer Lite which I installed for this purpose). Having limited means always enhanced my creativity, but however I tried with my main hosts (Orion and Reaper)... well, there's always a temptation to try 'yet another' synth or effect from the arsenal I own. With S1, I have what I have: a couple of synths, three sample playing devices, a bunch of FX. And I love it, really.

It seems to be pretty cool for midi works with hardware. It picks up realtime controls with no fuss. Cubase like editing make the whole thing dead easy. In my case Artist should be sufficient for a while as midi sequencer. And hopefully next versions bring the package feature set closer to the Logic/Cubase standard. Then I probably leave Cubase land for good and get the upgrade

Yeah it's clearly aimed at musicians and songwriters who might not be all that tech savvy. I just thought, this'd be perfect for a mate of mine.

Sometimes you just wanna make some music without anything getting in the way and Presonus really seem to have nailed that.

Exactly. This is the perfect introdawction to the shady world of music production.

I am so grateful to PS for that deal. I have been using S1 Pro for the past 9 months and it's fantastic. Next September, I will start a music production club in the school I teach at and, when Reaper was my first choice because of the licence price, I will definitely use S1 Artist. And the little workaround to partially use VSTs will help.

I've also jumped on that deal after having tested the demo.
Since I use many VSTi I have to upgrade to PRO but I will wait for another great deal from Presonus. Last year there was a $100 rebate on the upgrade package. I really hope there will be another great deal on the upgrade package

I'm so glad I picked this up. It's funny because I downloaded the demo for Pro a while back, and it did nothing for me at that time. Having limited options is cool because it forces you to put in some work, and that's how you learn. You don't spend 30 minutes deciding which reverb to use. Avoiding the vst hack for now and just going with Guitar Rig, Kore Player, and EZDrummer. Allthough I must admit I am using my full versions of EZD and Guitar Rig 4. Never used GR4 much except for effects, I use mostly Amplitube3 and the Lepou sims. I'm actually finding somes nice sounds in Guitar Rig now.
