I'd give it a whirl but Audio Damage don't do demo versions. The Demo audio examples on there site sound alright. They are a little on the boring side though.

Thanks for the info. This synth does seem rather limited. I have a few AD plugins and like them but I think I am going to pass on this one.Gamma-UT wrote:I tried it in Live: the partials don't seem to be exposed to the DAW; pretty much everything else is.Gribs wrote:Are the levels of each partial exposed to your DAW? One thing I have noticed about AD stuff is that it is designed to take complex modulation from the DAW and not from internal parameters.

Man - when was the last time you found a nice synth with a 21-page manual? This synth looks very interesting to me... good value too! This thing looks so easy, even a dummy like I can get my walnut-sized brain around it.

So many VST synthesizers....who could possible need another one.I really thought that putting aside of course its specific alphaSyntauri heritage and synthesis type etc just how useful this may be.
Been dabbling with Phosphor since released, glorious little synth with a beautiful tone and lovely noises, stands up on its own against anything out there imho and it definitely has its own distinctive identifiable character, alphaSyntauri I can't say and don't care but from everything I've ever tried and thats most soft synths, I love the sound coming out of this wee green beastie. The preset bank is also 1st class.
So much more to this than it appears and a very enjoyable synth to play and create sounds.I have to say Phosphor is one trippy little bugger too.

to AD for this.

Thanks for that mini review! I am not the least bit surprised... every plug I've purchased from AD has been great value and just plain fun and simple to use! I may have to pop for this one!Motion wrote:So many VST synthesizers....who could possible need another one.I really thought that putting aside of course its specific Alpha Centauri heritage and synthesis type etc just how useful this may be.

I went for it.At first I thought nah! nothing special.
Then after playing for a while it's grown on me.
Will I use it all the time? Probably not.
Will I use it? Yes
Why? Because it has a certain something.Character, personality, fun and something just a bit different from lots of other vst instruments I own.
I think this one is a grower.

Seriously, don't say things like that, now I'm considering it again!

Yea - I forgot about that - their return policy is really second to none!

It's not bad. Most presets use between 5% & 25% and thats on this aging P4 single core 3ghz machine. Most are around the 10% mark.Nielzie wrote:How is the cpu consumption on this one?

Damn, the temptation was just too great. After playing around with it, making up a few presets... here's my first impression: it's a great little synth that somehow manages to sound unique. I mean, I can PROBABLY get Rhino f.e. to sound somewhat like Phosphor, but it's got that special something. Real easy to get beautiful, moving sounds out of it, with lots of lo-fi charm that just puts a smile on my face.
There's also a few neat tricks in there that are not apparent at first glance, i.e. you can use the resonance of the filters with a bit of judicious modulation to add some more grit to the sound. The crossmod feature is also highly usable (mostly in small doses).
I could go on about what it can't do and doesn't have, but there's no reason to do so. Great fun, nice sound, and more depth than meets the eye - AD, why did I doubt ya?

Would you mind posting a demo of the sounds you made? The AD ones leave me a bit flat.ariston wrote:Damn, the temptation was just too great.
