All the gain you could ever need and would be pleased to accept any speaker and/or cab instead of the stock shittfield. Put a Boss NS-2 and a TS-808 infront of it and you have instant great metal sound, i would/will be running it with my good old Marshall DSL50 head with same pedals infront the combination of the EL34s in the Marshall have a more savage mid-range and the lower-end and high-mid/treble are filled out really well with the 6L6s. It is a great combination as i have ran it before, add in a Boogie Recto Solo 50 head and every base is covered for my needs. Just have not seen a Recto Solo 50 head for the right price used yet or when i have i have been broke  and  That is the masterplan anyway. Then move onto some more specific items, most of which i have confessed to in the 'your next guitar' thread already

My thing right now is that I've got the silly Princeton amp and a weird little amp head....don't ask where I got this THING from...homebrew..but it is LOUD for it's wattage.

The cab I do have is an Euphonic Audio thing...200W powered cab...but it is a bass cab...so here I be looking at building a cab...? :help:

I don't have any more info than what IK has revealed at NAMM. But from what I understand, the new version is going to still be AmpliTube 3.x, though it is a significant update in the way you add new models. Some elements on the interface are going to be moved around to make room for the Custom Shop button. New models are going to be bought à la carte through the online Custom Shop. From the screenshot from NAMM, it looks like new models will be bought with some type of credits, but I haven't been able to make sense of this system yet.

It's going to be cool because we won't have to wait a whole year for a new AmpliTube edition, we can just get them as they become available, which will probably be with a fair amount of frequency, and for not too much pain in the wallet per hit. Our individual AmpliTube setups will begin to become more personalized and diversified, though, which could eventually end up being a headache for preset sharing and cross studio compatibility as time goes on. I guess the only thing to do will be to collect them all!
Sorry I didn't chime in but yeah, that's pretty much how it will work. More info coming.

tbh, I do tend to get let down by a lot of the high end brands. Even my now beloved Blue Angel only came together after A LOT of tweaking and fussing with tubes. I was completely let down the first two weeks I owned it. All that said, the Hot Cat 30R was an instant love affair.
On another opposite note - I am pleased to hear Peavey have re-issued the 6505+ in a 1x12" 60 Watt Combo format speaking of things that i prefer, £499 RRP.
Sweet! That sounds perfect for you!

in typical Hink fashion let me just say that I think with some of the high end brands you pay a pretentious fee. Of course Marshall charging about 5 times what they should be worth on re-issues doesn't help. I know I have talked about the boutique amp T5 (Frenzel's son Trevor) the BUD-25* but tbh for a handwired amp built for just you I dont think 1700usd is all that bad.

However I'm not thinking about that in the near future.

* from the page
Take a "Blackface" AB763, gut the reverb and vibrato, and wire up channel 2 more like a super HOT-RODDED "800" style amp. Then add relay-driven CHANNEL SWITCHING and dual footswitchable DRIVE and master LEVEL controls on channel 2 and hook it all up to a HiFi grade power amp section

Description

The T5 BUD ("Blackface"/"UltraDistortion") amps were designed for the player that wants the highest quality, hand-wired multi-channel all tube guitar amp that will produce both super sweet clean tones as well as aggressive, powerful high-gain tube distortion.

CHANNEL 1 on the BUD is the super sweet clean channel with tones inspired by the vintage "Blackface" style amps. VOLUME, BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE controls. Simple and straight-forward, with a great bark as you get louder and begin to overdrive the power amp section.

CHANNEL 2 is the high-gain tube "Ultra-Distortion" channel that's basically like a 2 channel amp in itself. It has dual footswitchable DRIVE and master LEVEL controls that share a BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE tone stack. This gives you the option of either setting up an overdrive/distortion setup (where LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 are at about the same volume setting, but DRIVE 2 is set to a higher gain setting than DRIVE 1), or a volume boost setup (where DRIVE 1 and DRIVE 2 are set to the same gain setting, but LEVEL 2 is set to a higher volume setting than LEVEL 1), or a rhythm/lead combination of both more gain and volume (where DRIVE 2 is set to a higher gain setting than DRIVE 1 and LEVEL 2 is set to a higher volume setting than LEVEL 1).

The power amp section of the BUD Series has been dialed in to provide a perfect balance between the two differently voiced preamps.

Other features include relay-driven channel footswitching circuitry with absolutely no solid state in the signal path, slick gloss black laser engraved aluminum front and rear panels with bright silver lettering, and heavy duty knurled aluminum knobs all packed in a genuine Tolex covered 13-ply birch head cab with black hardware and a tinted "plexi" acrylic front panel.

At first, the clean tones of CHANNEL 1 may make you think the BUD is a really nice amp, but once you switch over to CHANNEL 2 you'll instantly realize that this is not so. The BUD is not really your "bud" at all. It wants to take control of you and your guitar. There's enough gain here to literally suck notes out of your fingers. Perfect for scorching rhythms and screaming leads. Super-saturated with just the right amount of compression while still retaining clarity of individual notes. So overdriven that it's almost clean... and yes, it can be somewhat tamed and still sound great if you turn the DRIVE control(s) way down, and with its interactive 3-band tone stack, there are virtually unlimited high-gain tones available for you to dial in. Versatile enough to get just about anything from the heaviest modern scooped rhythms, to endlessly sustaining "brown" midrange lead tones, to over-the-top psychedelic feedback, to killer metal tones.

Two awesome extremes...sweet cleans...brutally beautiful high-gain tube distortion...with a power amp section that has been carefully dialed in to provide a perfect balance for both.
