Indeed great demos - gives a nice overview of the sound possibilities.

Unfortunately there is no native AU component for the Mac.
I'm asking why? Is this a SynthEdit project?

Too bad almost none of those songs used an OB-X/Xa/8.

How could you leave Jump out of that list?

(See 2:35)

Or Tom Sawyer?

(You can't see it but the OB-X is on his left hand, making that big sound.)

And just a suggestion, the wet level on the delay sounds a little hotter than one would normally mix it. Your first echo sounds equally as loud as the original note. Kind of muddies up the tone. Try a wet mix around 25-30%.

You're right that the original synth used in these tracks was mainly the fabulous Jupiter-8; the last two too have used OB-X

But OP-X PRO-II is not at all limited to Oberheim type sounds, it can easily copy Jupiter-8 and Prophet-5 sounds as well (plus a lot of others, these songs should deliver the proof) - there are even dedicated banks; Jupiter-8 sounds are even one of the main domains of OP-X PRO-II

There are already too many demos of the obligate Van Halen and Rush stuff, so it was more exciting to show some of the new sounds; plus there are already many demos of those two featuring OP-X that can't be topped imho

Examples:

Jump:

Tom Sawyer:

You probably can find lots more by searching YouTube

That one was kinda cool. (Though the tone is lacking. I assume that's not OPX.)

Yep, it's a bit a pity indeed that it's transposed upwards :-)

As far as I remember Kent Carlevi (the guitar player who originally did the video before his channel was closed) said that he likes it more like this

Right key (but only a few chords):

Yeah that's it, roughly (and with complete absence of timing ;) ).

I would be ALL OVER this if there were an AU version. I seem to recall in another thread Peter999 mentioning that a native AU version was planned for the future.

What's that got to do with anything? There's no need to pigeonhole a synth when it does excellent emulations of other vintage synths as well as Oberheims. Maybe you have a problem because, in my ever so humble and subjective opinion, it mostly does it far better than your own synth does?

Some of your remarks come across as "sour grapes" if you hadn't already noticed. But I'm entirely sure it wasn't your intention (of course!) because I know developers on KVR are all mature enough to rise above that sort of thing. I also know you were too busy to take the three seconds required to see the world already has enough Jump demos, using OPX, already on Youtube. But I'm sure Peter appreciates your concern in this area.

Too bad your perfect pitch eyes don't protest about your GUI's in the same way ;)

Where have I said anything disparaging about this product in this thread? And where have I mentioned that I happen to make a softsynth too? By what logic am I not allowed to comment, just because I happen to know how to make these types of products too? If anything that should make my suggestions MORE valid. Not here in crybaby land though.

That was the closest you got. However comments like "Too bad almost none of those songs used an OB-X/Xa/8" made no sense (to me) either, particularly when it takes little time to verify that there are multiple other OP-X Youtube videos available which (just maybe, ya think?) might cover more Oberheim specific sounds.

Where did I say you're "not allowed" to comment? I didn't.

Just as you are free to post your opinions, so others are free to interpret your words and respond accordingly - That's the general idea of a forum. I commented on how some of what you wrote came across to me, which includes the ever subjective "reading between the lines". That was my personal opinion. Now you've stated your response, and I'm sorry if I misread your words.

I also thank you for your concern that the world should have more Jump demos. How about you post your own video of the correct way to play it? ;)

Interesting, are there plans, Peter?

Nice videos/sounds Peter! :)

Ever since getting OPX Pro II, I can't stop loading it up and playing it more and more. I haven't been using anything else really for a couple weeks now.
