Short edit: The overall approach (to midi and audio editing) seems pretty balanced development wise so... if it stays that way it should all work out.

I was all set to upgrade to Pro until I saw that there was no download purchase for Pro. I mean, this IS 2011. They could have most of the program features as a download then snail mail the GB of loops. Still considering it, but the wait for it to arrive by mail is almost unacceptable for me wwhen I'm so used to download purchases.

I'm not sure but can't you run the full version until it arrives? I have 4 remaining unlocks on the trial version in my account. how long does it take anyway?

Unless it's changed, you can authorize your serial which is emailed to you, and download the latest version(without all the content).Doug B wrote:I was all set to upgrade to Pro until I saw that there was no download purchase for Pro. I totally agree with your feelings about the "program features" vs the "content" delivery methods/options, however:Doug B wrote:I was all set to upgrade to Pro until I saw that there was no download purchase for Pro. "patience" is a virtue for a reason... as it stands by todays standards, it almost qualifies as 'counter-cultural' (IMO)

It can easily take a few weeks, actually. I can see that you aren't familiar with Canada Customs. In the past they have held my parcels for a couple of weeks before even notifying me. That's what takes so long. Otherwise it would probably only take a week or so.musikmachine wrote:I'm not sure but can't you run the full version until it arrives? Still don't get why more vendors, particularly the 'bigger' ones, haven't yet implemented (at least) the "option" to download, aside from being aware of potential bandwidth problems.

Could you tell me how, please? When I go to http://webstore.presonus.com/studioone/ and click on 'buy now', there is a 10.58 Cdn shipping charge and no way to order a download.
Also, their exchange rates are way out of line. The upgrade is $199 USD, but costs $249 Cdn. Right now, the Canadian dollar is worth MORE than the US dollar-
1 CAD = 1.00489 USD.
So how do I authorize my serial number and have it emailed to me? I hope what you said is true, it would make things much easier.
Cheers
Doug

Ok, MF has it in stock......trying to resist.........
MF has the WORST shipping...(won't be here till next week if I ordered tonight....that's how they roll.)
I think I better test the full version and see how my plugs works

Ya, big time!Shabdahbriah wrote: Ah, that sucks.
I think it depends who runs the business. Some business heads just don't 'get it'. The internet changed everything for several types of businesses, especially software. With instant pay and downloads, people aren't willing to wait weeks for delivery when the product can just as easily be downloaded with a high speed internet connection.Still don't get why more vendors, particularly the 'bigger' ones, haven't yet implemented (at least) the "option" to download, aside from being aware of potential bandwidth problems.
It has nothing to do with patience, it has to do with efficiency. If you went to a car rental agency and they gave you a horse and wagon to get from LA to New York, you'd take your business elsewhere. Unless you wanted the scenic route!
I don't think band width cost is an excuse for not having downloads either-it's the cost of doing business in the 21st century. If 2 GB Linux distributions are available for downloads by non-profit organizations like Debian etc., why can't a profit making company do it as well?

Interesting, haven't quite figured out if that means you can upgrade right away or not.
Frankly, I'd be upgrading to use vst's.....I don't really care much about the content. (though I'm sure I'll use it
