It does seem to mean that you can up right away. Here's hoping!hibidy wrote:http://forums.presonus.com/posts/list/3 ... page#42470
Interesting, haven't quite figured out if that means you can upgrade right away or not.

Just to clarify, there's nothing to download but more content. The software is the same, the Pro code just unlocks features, so you can unlock Artist into Pro without downloading anything.
There is probably not a download option in the store because all of the content packs and program updates, if any, will be in your "My Software" area anyway. You're only buying a new serial or whatever there so there is no need for a download option in the store.

But why is there a shipping charge then?LawrenceF wrote:Just to clarify, there's nothing to download but more content. The software is the same, the Pro code just unlocks features, so you can unlock Artist into Pro without downloading anything.

I guess because they ship the box anyway. I think everyone who buys it (except for the $20.11 deal) gets a physical boxed product with the DVD's.Jazz Franco wrote:But why is there a shipping charge then?
Perhaps I misunderstood. If some people are saying that they want a "download only" option where they don't ship a box with DVD's and you don't pay the additional shipping charge (what is the shipping charge now?), yes, that does makes sense as an option.
Not that hard to burn your own DVD backups of the content after you download it all... so yeah, if you want to save that $10 or whatever it is for shipping, you should be able to.

Here's how it works, from what I gather:
The retailer sends you a serial, which you can use immediately to register and download your stuff. Then they send you the physical box in the mail.
Best of both worlds, when you're buying online. Except where you have to pay shipping charges, and would prefer if you didn't have to.
I'm a big fan of boxed products though. Just makes the purchase seem more "real".

they should just change the advertised price from $199 to $209, since you're getting whacked for the box/shipping whether you want it or not.autumndreams wrote:Here's how it works, from what I gather:

Yeah, it seems that (if I understand it correctly) shipping charges aren't optional there.kelldammit wrote:they should just change the advertised price from $199 to $209, since you're getting whacked for the box/shipping whether you want it or not.

OTOH, If you don't want to pay the shipping charges you can always just order the upgrade from somewhere like Sweetwater where shipping is free but in that case I don't know if you'd have to wait for the box to arrive to turn your copy into Pro or if the activation code is maybe on the emailed receipt or something.
No idea. Maybe go there (PreSonus) and ask. If not, I'd probably tell my Sweetwater "sales engineer" to open the box before shipping it, once the card charge is verified, and just email me the activation code.
Skinning the cat I guess...
