I upgraded to Pro via Sweetwater a week ago... my rep emailed me the code the same afternoon and the physical box arrived two days later. (No shipping charge).

Exactly. I can't believe in this day and age that there are still users that can't burn their own cd/dvd to hold the software.

Why? What are you spending your money on-a 2 cent cardboard box or the value of the software? What is 'real' is using the software.autumndreams wrote: I'm a big fan of boxed products though. Just makes the purchase seem more "real".
If you only want to look at a pretty cardboad box, I have a ton of them in my back garage!

I love being able to download software. However, I do enjoy lining the boxes up on my shelf! Adds something special to the shelves. Of course, my wife would prefer I got rid of some boxes, but still.

Is there no shipping charge only within the US? (I'm in Canada and don't want to get hit with a surprise shipping charge.)
Just thought you might know. Guess I should phone them.

... and, potentially, the additional fees for Import Duty and VAT.LawrenceF wrote:Not that hard to burn your own DVD backups of the content after you download it all... so yeah, if you want to save that $10 or whatever it is for shipping, you should be able to.

It's all too complex for me... the various charges when buying from overseas. Seems like you guys pay more for everything.DarkStar wrote:... and, potentially, the additional fees for Import Duty and VAT.LawrenceF wrote:Not that hard to burn your own DVD backups of the content after you download it all... so yeah, if you want to save that $10 or whatever it is for shipping, you should be able to.

I thought you threw away the boxes for those porn dvds.Doug B wrote:If you only want to look at a pretty cardboad box, I have a ton of them in my back garage!

Hmmm turns out for me it's extra $10 for shipping plus dunnohowmuch for the customs (as the package value is going to be over $150). All that for the DVD with some stuff I might not even need (c'mon, I want to unlock the full features, not some extra gigabytes of loops). I understand some Presonus people are reading this thread, may I suggest putting a download only edition on offer?

Excellent idea.Jazz Franco wrote:I understand some Presonus people are reading this thread, may I suggest putting a download only edition on offer?
BTW-How long is the upgrade offer available ? (The $20 Artist -->Pro upgrade)

+1 to the download option. Isn't all the content added to your account when you upgrade or is that only Artist?Doug B wrote:Excellent idea.Jazz Franco wrote:I understand some Presonus people are reading this thread, may I suggest putting a download only edition on offer?

Here's what the comparison chart says about extra content (beside Mastering suite, extra FX, etc):musikmachine wrote:+1 to the download option. 100 additional DSF sampled indstruments are fine, but I guess those are probably already covered by what I have for WusikStation.100 additional premium Digital Sound
Factory sampled instruments for PreSonus'
Presence virtual instrument
• Custom SoundPack for Kore™ Player, with
200 more instruments
• More than 2,000 additional loops (4 GB) by
Bandmate Loops
As for 2000 extra loops -- thanks but no thanks. Enough's enough, y'know; if I really needed that I'd buy Mixcraft. Frankly, I deleted the loops for the Artist edition after auditioning. They're nice but nothing I'd really want to use. Sorry Presonus, no offence.
The upgrade offer afaik is permanent, it doesn't matter how you acquired the Artist Edition.

I can't even download the loops - they crap out at 500mb every time - even Downloadthemall gives up on it - and I'm not made of bandwidth. Loops, schmoops anyway.
I think mine will be headed for the Marketplace pretty soon - can't justify putting 200 notes down on this for the upgrade, and TBH I'm not really lovin' it like everyone else. Nice for $20 though

Thanks, Jazz. I've been debating with myself whether to buy S1 Pro or Photoshop CS5 for 50% off (I get the Wacom Intuos 4 discount). I hate not having an endless supply of cash!!!Jazz Franco wrote: The upgrade offer afaik is permanent, it doesn't matter how you acquired the Artist Edition.
