The limiter works after compressor but before makeup knob (see signal chain path in plugin's readme). The main idea for limiter is to suppress peaks if they suddenly come through compressor too much.RunBeerRun wrote:I had a good test with it, nice soft compressor slaps, easy to use/understand controls. The limiter's light only goes on with high threshold, not sure why exactly. Turning the thresh to the left for more compression, turns off the light.
The plugin goes to clipping on +5..6 dB input overshoot. As clipping indicator the version info string turns into redRunBeerRun wrote:Ran a volume plugin before it to test the limiter, not sure what's limiting, but it distorts pretty quicklty. Great as a compressor though.
Yes. The latency remains. Technically I can implement zero latency when oversampling is off but I had problems with some hosts when latency compensation changing on the fly.futurefields wrote:hello
does the latency of Molot remain @ 2 samples regardless of oversampling?
Really I can try again to implement it if you explain me what is the big difference between 2 samples and zero latency for your purposes.

Your implementation makes the most sense to me - fixing it at 2 samples is good. Thanks!vladg wrote:Yes. The latency remains. Technically I can implement zero latency when oversampling is off but I had problems with some hosts when latency compensation changing on the fly.futurefields wrote:hello

I actually like the "damage" a lot!! Will have to experiment with it a bit more. Hmm, this could be the start to some experimentation in stereo imaging.vladg wrote:The indicator shows only compression level but doesn't show saturation, limiting and EQ. For you case I suppose it's saturation to change stereo image.bmanic wrote:Hmm, it can't be just Mid or Side for the sidechain signal itself only because running the compressor with zero compression still results in a very weird stereo image. This means that the input signal itself (the one being compressed) is getting some processing. Is there some weird but nice mistake in the mid/side matrix on the input? Or is the compressor doing low levels of compression even when the meters do not move?
Hmm, the saturation is not symmectric so on S channel it really does damage for stereo field. I think I should fix it by turning off saturation in "S" mode.
Or by replacing S mode with something more useful
Cheers!

Molot is up there with some of the most characterful compressors that I've ever used and I've used tons of them over the years. Keep up the Good work and the character.

Thanks a lot! Now I'm afraid to change something in pluginBFunKu wrote:Molot is up there with some of the most characterful compressors that I've ever used and I've used tons of them over the years. Keep up the Good work and the character.
Molot Compressor updated to 0.2.130

What's new:
•Release curve was slightly changed (a bit shorter at small signal values).
•Frequency response in oversampled modes changed to be more linear.
•Limiter has become softer.
•When user-adjustable sidechain filter is off now built-in lowshelf sidechain filter applied.
•Some presets have oversampling off by default.
•Latency was fixed to be 3 samples (was declared as 2 samples by mistake).
Warning!
If you dislike sound changes in new version you can download old versions. See the links at the bottom of Molot Compressor page.

I hope you don't mind if I say this, but I do like the older version better. (well, maybe you already expected this kind of messages
)
I like the "breathing" sound nicer to my ears with the old version. I also like the ability to switch off the side chain filter completely.
But I guess this can be just matter of personal taste.
Maybe you could provide the old version with the latency fix, too? Although, I'm not sure if 1 sample misalignment is a serious problem.
Thanks

Okay I'll give a link to "old sound" version with correct latency soon.s_t wrote:I hope you don't mind if I say this, but I do like the older version better. (well, maybe you already expected this kind of messages)

I thinked about adding 2 release modes "new one" and "old one" but it seems the difference is very small for the the most people and one more switch will confuse them.
If you're talking about "breathing" maybe it's better to use old release mode in "sigma" attack mode but new release mode in "alpha" attack mode when expecting not "breathing" but more plain dynamic range compression?
About new sidechain filter. I noticed I never use it "off" for my projects. The sound when filter knob around 50 Hz is very similar to "off" for real tracks. A little shelving filter instead of simple bypass sounds better for main buss. But there's all in your hands. If no one tells that it's good I'll return it back. No problems about that
But no more knobs in this version

That's really complex kind of question. Paypal doesn't allow to accept payments in Russia. And I don't know another trusted and well-known ways for doing this. I think my way is to find a friend somewhere in USA to get donations. Working on itxiq wrote:And finally: How can I donate?

Thanks! I am assuming this is the 32 bit version? Do you have a fixed x64 version too?vladg wrote:You can get it here:s_t wrote:Maybe you could provide the old version with the latency fix, too?
