On top of abusing a trademark, I find more so it's simply tacky.

It's not a problem of plagiarism, piracy or profit. The problem is that the logo of a product/company is linked to specific marketing/business schemes. Also a company is responsible of the usage of his logo/TM images. The use of a specific mark/logo without authorization could create also legal problems: in this specific case Access has the right to send a copyright infringment note because their logo has been placed on a product of another company; technically they have to prevent possible legal actions from Cakewalk. That's why companies put a lot of attention on these things: they have a big responsibility, and the last thing they want is to have their logo placed everywhere without any kind of control on how has been used.

To be rude it's like using someone's else sign on a fake letter... Ok, you can say it was a joke, but from a legal point of view it's not a joke at all!

hello-oh, it's an unofficial, hobbyist, DIY, home-made skin, what does Cakewalk have to do with it, let alone be responsible for?

what's missing though in your phantasmagoric scenario is claims against Cakewalk for making skinning possible, cause with their lack of foresight they thereby allowed designers to slap unrelated logos on z3ta skins

just see to what absurd your current of thought may lead to

your analogy with letter is flawed, because it's not a case of impersonation, false representation or deception

please follow Teksonik and make yourself familiar with Fair Use concept in law

Given the previous Access virus Z3ta mods allowed to be posted on KVR, including the one I mentioned earlier, where the skin had the logo on and everything, what's so bad about this thread?

As for registered trademarks etc... What about 3rd party patch banks that feature 'moog lead', or synths that feature 'moog filters'?
These are registered names, no? Isn't that just as bad as the op, which isn't bad at all, or at least, wasn't on kr some while ago.
