Here's a short demo that features six of my own sounds. No effects, just EQ and a limiter. I tried to pick some diverse sounds to show a bit of the range of which Phosphor is capable.

Nice. Thank you very much. This at least has gotten me thinking about getting it at some point.

I am not really hearing much that I cannot replicate with what I have. Maybe the quick and dirty approach is the selling point.

Great demo track Ariston :)

Anyone else using this synth and could comment on this? It seems to have fallen off the radar kind of quickly.

This one trick'ish pony for $60, or put $60 towards the Alchemy fund?... Hmmm...

Thanks for posting this demo.

I'd like to be convinced by this synth too as I like some AD effects.

Curiously enough, while fiercely retaining a kind of pure/very_clean sound usually associated with additive synths, I think almost all -if not all- of these patches could be obtained with an FM synth as well, like Dx series ( Maybe at the price of a bit of aliasing in hi freq range sometimes tbh )

But maybe its easier to dial them on Phosphor ?

Then Fm synths can produce much more complex instruments.

Would it be an error to say that Phosphor could be to Fm/Additive what SID/bits units are to some other synths ?

I'd be insterested in people with experience with Phosphor commenting this kind of approach/understanding of the philosophy of the synth.

I might be all wrong btw but this is what the different audio demos make me think of.

Anyone else trying this? I am normally an AD slappy but I am just not feeling it yet. I already own Morphine and Soup. Is Phosphor a unique gem in the additive world?

It takes an AD slappy to know one... I bought it in the first few hours of its release. Ha! I agree with others in saying that it's well worth the sixty bucks - probably on ease of use alone - and that Phosphor definitely gets used - maybe just not a lot. Phosphor does seem to have a unique flavor, and like other AD plugs, it rides well with other AD plugs. CPU use is negligible/unnoticeable on a newer machine (mbp 5,3).

It sounds how it looks: glowing green, strangely old, glassy and weird.

I doubt its makers will appreciate it much, but I will try to dig up more demo noises for ya...

Nicely put! :)

Thanks for the replies. There is no cure for slappiness, nor do I want one. Looks like I'll get it next paycheck.

ok there's a couple new demos up:

it probably goes without saying, but the intro synth is Phosphor, the other two are not Phosphor.

after doing that one i realised there is an old one using only AD plugs, including like 5 instances of Phosphor...:

long one, but a good demo of some of the varied Phosphor sounds. and the other AD i guess. well, maybe.

AD, why can't I quit you?

I am thinking of getting this synth next month, Is anyone using it? I am into Industrial/EBM/Minimal synth so I think it just fits perfectly to add some unique sounds. I alredy own some great synths (ACE, Sytrus, Poizone, etc.) and this looks really easy to use and has a gritty sound.
