What would do you buy? Both have the same price (aprox), but you can have more virtual grooveboxes in the ipad, and it has battery. However the classic grooveboxes have real knobs and buttons and the sound good!

I've owned quite a few groove boxes, mostly of the electribe variety and I sold them all once I got my iPad. Its portability is a big plus and the software on it is amazing. And it's only going to get better.

yes the knobs and button argument is really vaild.
also if you need more than 1 Stereo output.
but a real groovebox also sticks to just one concept.

which leaves you with versatile vs. tactile.

also the longevity of iPad has yet to be tested, as the oldest iPad
is not even 2 years old.

right now I'd go with the iPad because of versatile apps esp. controller sw there is.

iElectribe = no midi sync, how can it even compete with hardware?

I have an iPad, typing on it now and think it's great.

Amazing as a controller, touchosc is worth it weight but as a synth, groove box sampler etc right now iPad apps are far from complete.

Korg left out essentials like audio copy and even worse midi sync.

To me it seems the devs are playing catch up with iOS, either that or they just don't see the importance of midi sync and audiocopy paste.

I love my iPad to bits.
But as a groovebox er no...
I have several of the studio apps and I use them that day and that's it.
On the other hand, my netbook with Ableton Live does it all and does it everywhere.

"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"
