its got a mini usb port to connect to your computer so that it can be used as a traditional controller for any DAW software on your standard PC or Mac.

except it doesnt show up in live

Ah ok, thought it had some secret Live functionality.

works fine here(live ver8 )- shows as "usb audio device" in the midi tab under preferences
i didn't even have to do anything.. running asio4all with it.

thanks for the response, it seems it is installed OK in windows. I downloaded the windows version of Nanao studio and it works in that without a problem, it doesnt show up in Live or fruity loops though. I also have the latest version of live 8.

Ok so I reinstalled ASIO and then it worked in Fruity loops but was still not working in Ableton.
I then swithed on my APC40 unit and it shows up as usb audio2 execpt I could only use it under the APC40 setting, blowing my mind

So I fianlly get a response from Akai 'pro' today and it seems that both their devices run off the same usb driver and therefore cannot be connected at he same time, the very reason I got it

So bear in mind if your thinking of buying it
