This is a very nice synth and been around for a long time. It's capable of creating a lot of different kind of sounds too. Been playing around with it since last two days. Even the default presets are quite nice and well categorized. As usual, I'm sure all the contestants will be able to churn out excellent tunes for this one. And addition of any Korg plugin to the prize will be an extra motivation. Thanks Rob.

I was wondering, even though it's been around since long time, I don't see a lot of patches/presets for it. Is there any particular reason for the same?

P8 is awesome. Probably the best synth for pads of all time! That's all I use it for though, but I might get into this

Agree, the way the delays are laid out is very inspiring, and terrific pads and strings like said.

But struggling to get any good drum sounds apart from a passable sine kick..

Looks like you're on the same boat as me

. Been playing with it quite some time now but haven't been able to create a good drum sound. So, I was toying with an idea of creating something without rhythm track altogether. Lets see how and where it goes...

Bit of a breakthrough on the snare now tho.. Actually went to the extreme step of reading some articles..

Recommendation was for a noise/triangle combination, but a noise/ramp worked better. What really helped was a character eq like IIEQ with a heavyish compressor after tho.

I thought only host eq was allowed. Am I mistaken?

I also had trouble with a snare sound. I've settled on something between a snare and hat I'm calling "sni snat".

ReaComp and W1 on the kick
ModernCompressor on the bass
Audiocation Compressor on one of the lead sounds
Ferric TDS on the Master.

This is what the rule says:
External effects: Allowed but must be freeware and easily available to all except your DAW's native EQ which is ok. Modulation effects like chorus, phaser, flanger etc or effects that transform the sounds to make them
unrecognizable as being from the synth are not allowed

So it's ok.

Some nice groove going on there... I guess playing with the delay finally paid off

cause I hear delay in almost every element in the track

don't take it in wrong way... overall it's an excellent track... good luck.
