Never doubted that. Your creation is pretty interesting and definitely spot on in terms of the old spirit. On top of that: access to several chips at the same time.

I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Thanks for answering.

Just thought that I'd give two thumbs up for David and his work in this area.

David, remember to drop by on ircnet every once in a while :) Dag Lem surfaced recently and as a pleasant surprise, he's also continuing work on the filter emulation amongst other things \o/

There'll be some other improvements coming along too, including the infamous "test bit noise" (waveform $F) so there's a lot to look forward into in the near future with SID emulations.

Hopefully we'll get Kevtris back on board too, he's done some serious research on things too, including combined waveforms.

It's a blessing really to have all these brilliant minds working at this stuff :)
Now available with added Inherently Suspect Justification!

Oh cool, I didnt know he was still active on it. I will surely pass by #sid in the future again.

yes the reset of the noise generator is one of the puzzles, all reset tricks seem to work as intended on 8580's but under 6581 i cant get my IRQ read code to get the same results at each run. Dont know if thats a old brown breadboard CIA problem or a real SID difference.

Thanks! I try to do a bit of SID research each month. But with all those chips and systems, its a challenge, to actually have something new to publish.

hey there guys!

anyone know if there are any free banks?
I find myself struggling when choosing through the different banks to find a specific computer (why cant it have the system names after the chip names?) and even after I do that, it seems kind of hard to get any kind of awesome chip sound out of what we have. I don't often like presets, but it seems they would be very much appreciated here!

It comes with loads of presets? Also the website and manual clearly state which chip came from which device.

Fun synth. Bought it a while ago, finally used it.

There's only two things amiss with Chipsounds:

1) It comes bundled with a lot of bloat. Aria engine installation, external reverb and just lots and lots of files when the plugin could be one simple .DLL.

2) Where is Paula?

Will probably buy it some day anyway 8)

Since another user just PM'ed me about this 'ARIA' business I feel I need to
explain. ARIA is our powerfull and flexible synthesizer/sampling engine. Of course chipsounds requires it as chipsounds its based on it. A simple product can be made using a simple DLL. For a flexible multiplatform instrument with tons of presets and skinable UI, you can't hide everthing inside a DLL easily.

You can read more on ARIA here:
http://www.ariaengine.com/

You'll see that its used more and more in many big products.

We dont install ANYTHING that isnt required for chipsounds to work.

Working on it.

I use the Aria engine with my Garritan libraries and love it.

Aria reads sfz and sf2 files too.

SFZ yes, SF2, not quite at least not for now.

Paula was the audio chip in the Amiga. Spiritual successor to the SID chip.

Hello,

I tried to get into Chipsounds after the update, but the new GUI was giving me a headache. No offence, sorry.

However I just came across Limeflavor's skins. Very easy on the eye - especially the brown one. Lovely!
