So its either a Peaved 5051+ 1x16 60 Watt Combo or this:
http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/product ... -sbk-.aspx
Possibly this and/or that:
http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/product ... black.aspx
http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/product ... g-mbk.aspx
Each is good and great for the money. Most of me says get the 7-string with floyd as that is my cup of tea and it fits criteria of being longer in scale plus for my first seven string feels right. Then part of me thinks just go silly and get the eight string which although will take some getting used to already has Active EMG 808 buckers which use my prefered magnet choice Alnico V. Conservative me says get the string thru to make up for the stolen ESP horizon as everything i have has a floyd or equivalent double-locking system...both the 7-strings will need pickups upgrading to EMG 707s or Seymour Duncan Blackout or even Duncan Designed 7-stringers. I will probably go with the first floyd example as a floyd is ingrained into my playing style
and then the 5150+ of course
Going for broke.
It is interesting to see the Scheter i already have (the Diamond Series Demon 6 FR in Satin Black) which i paid £275 for last year now is going for £359 which after playing and buying straight away, I had a feeling i got it for a steal as it really is peanuts for such a guitar that has needed nothing but my own choice strings/gauge and minor setup tweaks to account for that. The stock Duncan Designed active humbuckers are really good i think/work for me
Oh btw: If you like Reverb then you have got to check out the Eventide Space Reverb,
usually i am indifferent to reverb and always do not use any as an effect for guitar like you would a stompbox, rack unit or built-in thing (some early reflections only on source signals in the box at an almost subliminal level to add some spatial placement cues and a little brightness or dulling depending on what i am after/making the sound sit without needing much if any EQ) but for an effects box
that one and it is just as sweet/sick as the 'factor' series boxes! Well i think its awesome as reverbs go

+1...I've palyed 7 strings but they just aint me.hibidy wrote:I can totally understand the "dilemma". I I lean a little towards the 7 with the FR, but I couldn't play a 7 if my life depended on it.
Dean I thought it would be a no brainer, I know you wanted that Peavey. last week I found a pawn shop up the street I never knew was there (and I have shopped right next door for years
BTW Dean? I'm going to GC wednesday to buy two more mic cables so I can put another two mics on my speaker cabinet...and IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT

I would say sorry but i think that you are loving it really or would not be doing it
Nice find on that pawn shop place and i know you are probably going to make next saturdays shopping trip an hour earlier
I think i will go with the 7-string with Floyd, Stick to what i know. So i have already stuck £20 on it so they hold it aside. I had no plans to buy much guitar stuff except some pedals but i just go with the flow
If this is any consolation whatsoever then here is what i had stolen from me, "Uncle Torture" aka Eric has them in stock, which brought back the memories:
http://www.jrrshop.com/catalog/horizon- ... -4652.html
My one was abit darker brown and its painful to look at. If i still had it i could sell it and buy everything i mentioned plus new 4x12" and ISO cab
I thought i was over it and i am but when it pops up like that with that price tag smugly jumping out at me gleaming, It is a still abit sore
Have you heard back from Ibanez yet hibidy? I know you have once but that was not what was/is required!
All the best and Eric it is far from anything personal man

Personally, I would have returned it just because it's heavy. Heavy ash sucks, for both comfort and tone.hibidy wrote:I dunno....I'll chew on it a bit it's 45 days to return it. It really is a lovely guitar imo.....

Schecters have those thick plastic finishes. Not great for tone. Then again, the only other 7-string with a Floyd I found is the ESP H-1007FR:NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:Each is good and great for the money.

See above, it's a Horizon with the 81-7 and 707.Conservative me says get the string thru to make up for the stolen ESP horizon as everything i have has a floyd or equivalent double-locking system...both the 7-strings will need pickups upgrading to EMG 707s or Seymour Duncan Blackout or even Duncan Designed 7-stringers.
Reverb's been killing me lately. That's the one area where the Jet City's and VHT Pitbulls could really use improvement.Oh btw: If you like Reverb then you have got to check out the Eventide Space Reverb,

Eric, I want to pull the trigger tomorrow but tbh I am leaning more twoards the older model jet city 1x12 (not the convertable). one reason is I'm not sure the metal grate and big emblem in the middle of it are best for my purposes mic'ng the cab. I read the description that said "mid range growl" on the one with the grate and I'm not sure that's what I want either.

I am loving it and the iso cab release has been delayed until the end of March and even when I do get the iso cab I have the inputs and mics for both mic'ng a cab in the closet and the iso cab.NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:I would say sorry but i think that you are loving it really or would not be doing itNice find on that pawn shop place and i know you are probably going to make next saturdays shopping trip an hour earlier

I also am loving the guitar I got (ESP/LTD MH-350FR), I changed the strings a few days ago making it 'mine'. It's the only guitar I have with two springs on the whammy (usually I go with three) and I think with a lower tuning like the guitar is in (DGDGBbD) the lower tension is a good match

A combo version of the Hot Box Wild Cat 30 Reverb might be fun. How much do you think that would cost?Hink wrote:I would give serious consideration to haveing Jim Frenzel or his son Trevor build you an amp.

Right, so I'm guessing around $1,200-1,400 for a combo with reverb. I'd rather get a Dr. Z in that case.Hink wrote:http://www.frenzeltubeamps.com/id81.htmlSuper Deal Price $695.00 - $795.00 vintage cage - $895.00 with head cab or Rack Mount Case!
