More sound examples: Apparently ValhallaShimmer was used on several tracks for Matisyahu's new release, "Live at Stubb's Vol. II":

Joel Hamilton tweeted earlier today:
Vallhalla shimmer plugin. In the top 40 on iTunes. @Matisyahu's stubbs 2 live. Also in 5.1 on the live DVD! @valhalladsp

Arps programmed in Stutter Edit processed by 2 Shimmer Reverbs - one wholetone (+2/single) and one diminished cloud (double + 3), the Arps fed into the Shimmerverbs play the same scales.

I'll be much surprised if not 80% of all deep ambient stuff isn't made with Valhalla from now on.. ;)

A warm droney organ sound sent through Shimmer with dual reverse pitch shift +12
with a "bloom" type setting.

Used the new free Fullbucket scrooo vsti with the "Aetheral Organ" preset

I like the more "discrete" build of the pitch shifted feedback with this example. It is somewhere between an echo and a reverb. With higher diffusion settings, it would sound more like the traditional "shimmer" sound, but I like hearing the in-between settings.

Different parameters of Shimmer automated plus 3 different pitched instances on sends. Took the existing outro guitar part from this track and turned it into an ambient intro layer with a few other fx also automated. The original guitar parts were printed with Guitar Rig 2's pitch/psychedelay fx so that adds to the crazy pitch/octave choir harmonizing effect.

Shimmer used only as a "dumb" pitch shifter with guitar, mixed at 50/50 wet/dry. Placed before an ampsim in mono mode. Feedback is up to engage the pitch shift so there is a slight slap back before the pitch shift builds. Diffusion, Space and Modulation turned off. No high or low cut, set at their max so they let everything through. I think I used the single reverse pitch shift so the pitch shift has a very slight fade in from the initial note. Color is dark.

Lately I've been using Shimmer a lot for strange delays, it can do that very well besides the shimmering thing, here is a demo jamming with Scarbees Jaybass through some wawa and distortion FX and then sending that through Shimmer, slightly automating size and diffusion...

In this demo I sent 2 synths consecutively into 3 differently tuned Shimmer verbs and sent all of those into VRoom in Nostromo mode. The first 3 impulses in each pass go to the 3 Shimmers seperately, the 4th one to all of them.

A little shameless plug: The PlayStation 3 game Rochard will be released next week. I composed the soundtrack for the game, and used ValhallaShimmer a lot on it (I would have used VR too, but it wasn't available yet back then...)

Anyways, IGN just reviewed the game, and liked it (8.5/10 = "great"), and they also mentioned the soundtrack ("the game also totes a great soundtrack with a few standout tunes"). Almost all tracks on the soundtrack use VS here and there to add a little spice, and one track uses it pretty much to create the whole atmosphere. So, once again, thanks for a great effect!

Comparing Eventide's Blackhole with Shimmer this morning, I just needed to know if I want the hole...similar settings, I programmed Blackhole first and then tried to imitate that sound with Shimmer, demo starts with BH, then the same piano impro goes through Shimmer:

Did you decide to buy the Backhole plug-in or not?

SiMOD, do you have a web store for YOURSELF ?

Can I buy you ? :D

Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.
