I would say their Mac beta team needs to get some slack too since how can such big bug get through like was in 1.0 version (instant crash when changing presets, and it happens with ALL Macs so it's not computer specific)
Ok, I know it's not easy and all but anyway
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

I could not speak about all products of course and yes there seem to be some bugs but i'm sure most will be solved if possible.Acid Mitch wrote:Not harsh at all. You basicly said "thay dont have bugs except for..."Ingonator wrote:

You only mentioned their newest products. What about the Microwave , the Q , the Wave , the "waldorf edition" trilogy ? All had(or still have)bugs.
I do really like their products (except the matrix style UI's) and the guys clearly have a lot of talent as their synths are usually great sounding and fairly complex (features wise), but that doesnt change the fact that they release stuff with bugs that are dealbreakers for some people and sometimes never fixed.
Currently i own a Blofeld desktop (+ SL upgrade), Largo, PPG Wave 3.V (both with USB dongle for the copy protection) and the Waldorf Edition. In the past (around 2004/2005) i also owned a Q keyboard (the blue version with 32 voices) and a Microwave XT desktop (10 voices).
None of those caused any problems that stopped me from using it but i used a Windows computer all of the time (Currently a PC with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, Windows 7 32-bit and Ableton Live 8.2.1).
About the Waldorf Edition: There is an update v1.2.9 which works perfectly on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. There is no official download so far but AFAIK all customers of the download version already could get that version. The update uses a new copy protection (serial) instead of the CD authorization so users of the old version have to send a proof for the purchase and get a serial (and a download) for the new version.

Quite some users experiencing the crashes are using ableton live 8.
I have not had a single crash with live 7.
Live 8 is notoriously buggy & unstable.
1 + 1 = 2

I agree it should work on Live 8 though as I want to upgrade sometime
but it's hard to know if it's ableton or waldorf at fault ?? considering how terrible 8 has been regarding bugs and crashes
I suggest that the live 8 users suffering the ppg wave 3 crashes also report the issue to ableton support if they haven't already
good luck

Not many problems since Ableton Live 8.2.1 is out. Earlier versions were worse i have to admit. Anyway the last serious crash with PPG 3.V, Windows 7 and Ableton Live 8 was one i found during Beta testing and that bug was fixed before release...Slinky Productions wrote:I agree it should work on Live 8 though as I want to upgrade sometime![]()

It's also important to install the latest version of the eLicenser from time to time as this could solve some issues. I used the plugin with the USB dongle most of the time and i'm not totally sure if some of the instabilities are based on using the "dongle-less" version.
A last difference is that i use the full version of the plugin. I don't know if there are possible problem with the demo license. The software itself is identical AFAIK.

For what it's worth I have the full license on dongle, actually the demo was more stable lol
That was 1.0 back then when I demoed, Ok it had the crash problem with the preset browsing with audio units but vst worked fine

I just noticed that the PPG Wave 3.V Upgrade (for owners of the Waldorf Edition or the old PPG Wave 2.V) seems to be available at a special price of 99 Euros:
http://www.waldorfmusic-shop.de/epages/ ... D=19270228
------------------------------------------------------
The new PPG Wave 3.V update v1.0.2 is available now:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/version-102.html
This is running rock solid at my PC (Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, Windows 7 32-bit, Ableton Live 8.2.1).
------------------------------------------------------
A new bank for the PPG Wave 3.V from Rob Lee will be available very soon (already delivered to Waldorf) and my own bank for that synth should be finished at the beginning of the next month.
------------------------------------------------------
For those who didn't notice: Since December my soundbank for the Waldorf Blofeld is available at the Waldorf Online Shop:
http://www.waldorfmusic-shop.de/epages/ ... ts/wsetb03
No sample extension is needed for this. The Audio demos contain a short demo for all of the 128 sounds of the bank (8 x 16 demos).
Have fun,
Ingo

@Ingo
Change of plan, i will release the PPG V3 soundbank myself.. I will probably make it available sometime tonight when we've edited the contents page.
It will probably appear in Lotuzia's shop at some point next week and at Producerloops but i will have the pleasure of releasing my first PPG V3 bank.
All details and pricing will be posted on release..
Cheers
Rob

BTW Steve from Synth Magic included my free presets in the new update of the "Sounds of The Quadra" Kontakt instrument now:
http://www.synthmagic.co.uk/
The update is already delivered to the customers now. I have also reprogrammed the Multi presets of the 16 ARP Quadra factory sounds which are based on the original patch sheets. Those will be delivered to the customers soon.
I plan to do a full bank for this within the next months.

BTW a link to my Blofeld bank is already inside the credits page of the Kontakt instrument...
Those new type of Kontakt instruments like this or Soniccouture Novachord are really great. They combine a full featured synth with high quality multisamples of the "real thing". They are mostly based on the scripting language of Kontakt 4.
The Quadra instrument contains 4 synths (Bass, Strings, Poly and Lead) based on the 4 sections of the Quadra. It also includes a step sequencer (Bass section), an Arpeggiator (Poly section), a nice FX section for each section and some additional features compared to the real thing.

For programming the synth no scripting is needed. It has controls like a normal synth (which are based on the scripting engine, custom graphics and of course several multisamples...).rob_lee wrote:Good stuff Ingo, I however have no interest in getting into *scripting* of any kind hehe.
I'll stick to what i know.
Rob
Og course you'll need Kontakt 4 for using it.
