That can be anything but I hear no sounds of a PPG plugin. A Zebra2 could these sounds the same.Ingonator wrote:No, it's not possible as first it uses some of the new wavetables of the PPG 3.V and second Largo and other synths don't have the unique PPG filter. Not to forget the new "True PPG" modes which could simulate different features of a PPG Wave 2.2 or 2.3.PietW. wrote:For these sounds, it would have taken no PPG V3. This can be the Largo and many other plug-ins as well.
This is my personal opinion.

I just finished checking the patches of Rob's new "Blue Wave" bank for the PPG Wave 3.V. As a summary i could say it a typical Rob Lee bank including his beloved Dance and Techno stuff but on the other hand this also contains several typical sounds which you could expect from a PPG synth.
Some comments sorted by categories:
- Some really cool Arps with dance bit also vintage style
- A big selection of nice Bass sounds, both analog style and wavetable based. The real PPG was quite famouse for this AFAIK
- Several nice "Rob Lee style" dance chords
- Some really nice lead sounds, both analog and digital style
- some nice polysynth sounds, even a Synth Brass which could be inspired by my own soundbanks...
- my favorite category: PADS, many of them and both analog style and typical wavetable stuff. Some really smooth and beautiful sounds along those pads.
IMO this bank shows both the power of the PPG filter and the wavetables of the PPG, no samples included in this one. Those sounds are a nice addition to the big selection of factory sounds which are included with the PPG Wave 3.V.
With other banks which hopefully will be released in the future (like mine and another from Rob maybe...) i could see that there will be a nice library of different sounds for the PPG.

Thanks Ingo
This bank is just as popular as the Largo one when that first came out...
BTW
The PPG 3.V bank can be purchased bundled with the Largo bank on the product page or purchased seperatly.
Cheers

As I said Rob excellent sounds! I know it's maybe nature of this beast but is there a way to retrigger the phase of the osc's on every note?.. Now it's quite tricky to make basslines since the phases sometimes cancel each other and it sucks out all the low end so the bassline is very uneven that way .. I just noticed it today when making a track, suddenly the bassline at some point of the track had no low end at all! I guess when the wavetables or osc's are running they sometimes cancel each other, don't know the technical details
Maybe it's not possible and I love the PPG with all it's quirks
Right now I'm just layering the bass with a sub from another synth and hi-passing the PPG patch, works quite well that way too ..
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool
