Hey guys! I just wanted to share with you all an awesome, condensed theory book that I was recommended by someone on IDM forums quite a while ago when I was looking for an introduction to theory. The book covers basically everything one would need to know about theory concerning melody, harmony, groove, rythm and how go about using chord progressions that are most commonly found in contemporary music. The author lays out every example in sheet music format and uses pop songs that most of us have heard before to illustrate points. You can tell he's very experienced composer and you never feel like he's wasting your time. For those of you who want to learn theory but don't want to learn something you don't potentially need to know to write "hit" songs, I would def. pick this up:
