Hey guys,

With the new Kontakt update that was released a couple days ago, one of the new features was this:

- New binary file format for increased saving/loading performance.

According to the manual, to take advantage of this I need to open and re-save my instruments. Is this ok to do with my SC products or will there be an update? (I own Skiddaw, Pan Drum, Guzheng, Bowed Piano, etc.)

In fact, I believe this was updated in 4.1.

You can resave your instruments in Skiddaw, Pan Drum, Guzheng, and Bowed Piano to take advantage of it yes. They will load much more quickly after.

We haven't changed those instruments as they are still K3 compatible.

Some of our libraries are already 4.1 and have the increased loading speed (such as Xtended Piano and Mbira).

That could very well be! I just updated from Kontakt 3 to Kontakt 4 last week, and then got the patch and saw the release notes. Not sure if there were additional changes to the structure, because the latest release notes indicated that instruments that are saved in 4.2 won't be backwards compatible.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't got any of your Kontakt 4 Library based instruments yet. Wife and I had a kid last year and I'm just now dusting off my DAW!

The quickest way to do this is with the menu item 'Batch re-save' on one library at a time.

I just did it and it is a significant speed-up.

the other great thing about 4.2 is the improved convolution performance ; this makes a big difference to CPU hit on a lot of our instruments.
