Is u-he Ace (or other soft modulars) patchable through MIDI?

I don't have my computer in front of me to test.... I want to hardwire a bunch of patching options to my Novation Launchpad and turn them on or off with the push of a button.

Then what I want to do is come up with a template for my Novation launchpad, label it and print it out. If I set it up smart it should be easy to remember after some use and I think the color coding has unique possibilities.

Any other (preferably cross platform) options as well?

It looks like patch point in ACE don't support midi-learn but they can be automated. I tried midi-learning a patch point via Live's midi-learn and it works!

When configuring a patch points as an automatable/midi-learnable parameter in Live, you must make a connection from one point to another while in configuration mode for Live to identify the parameter. Once it's learned it looks like you are always selecting a source for the destination parameters, not the other way around.

edit: works in Bazille too! This is fun!

Yes this is one of the coolest things for all of U-He's synths. Zebra, ACE, Bazille etc. They all expose the modulation source selection as a automatable parameter. This means that with a novation SL for example (or Kore etc.), you can assignthe source selection to a knob. Turning the knob in the case of ACE will move the patch cable for a single destination to all possible sources so the wire actually bounces around. For zebra the mod sources scroll in the list (really it's doing the same thing but with ACE there's the graphics of the connected wire).

So with a launchpad, you should be able to use any methods you have for learning a parameter. I don't think you'll find a way to hardwire an entire setup at the push of a button, but you can assign individual source assignments.

Thanks for testing! But does this mean you can't disconnect the patches with the same button? I have a few ideas how to make it work if so. I haven't used the launchpad with Live at all just with Five12 Numerology.

Interesting. I think turning a knob might not give me the speed I'm after, but good to know! I'll have to see how it's set up, but I think I could just send a few messages with a knob and not go through the whole list of options.

I'll have to re-download the demo of Zebra 2.5 and experiment with it more as well because ACE and Bazille are CPU pigs and it would be nice to get more polyphony, etc.

The wire targets can be assigned to MIDI CCs, but it has to be done manually in the midimap.txt. The names of the wire targets can be extracted from a preset.

Bit tricky, but possible...
