Ok, so the refurb prices of the iPAD 16GB at $349 from Apple finally made me cave in and buy one. So, I know I have really wanted to get the iElectribe and iMS20 at least. What other music apps should I look at, folks? As an aside, any really cool, can't miss games (besides Plants Vs. Zombies that I've already completed. Woohoo!) would be appreciated too. :)

You might want to check out the Moog Filtatron:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/filtatro ... 76418?mt=8

Also, Nano Studio is great:

http://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/ - not native yet but it's coming I do believe.

As far as games go, I am really getting into this:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dead-spa ... 19894?mt=8

The graphics are fantastic. Really shows what the ipad is capable of. Of course, the iPad 2 is going to be swifter but I'm very happy with my first gen, wouldn't be without it!

Cheers.

You should check Nanostudio out - When I still used to live the iLife (abt 6 months ago, just got fed up with it for some reason), it was the best music tracking app for making tunes.
Also, be sure to check out all the turntablism apps made by the same guy who made BabyScratch and Flare - he has this nice 2 deck scratching app for the 'pad.

At this point in time Beatmaker 2 is the most full featured music app on iOS. The iPhone version works fine on an iPad, and the iPad version is expected soon. It has only been out about 3 weeks, and needs a few features to be 100%, but it is well worth the money.

Nanostudio used is still pretty good, but is quickly falling behind. Plus it has been out 8 months now, and still no iPad love....

You'll want an iRig and an iRig Mic for recording straight to your iPad, and an iKlip for attaching your iPad to a stand. Yes, IK Multimedia has you fully covered on the iPad!

And of course, you'll want to get our apps - they're a prerequisite for mobile musicians! There's GrooveMaker for iPad, complete with 12 different Groove Packs you can add-on for a variety of genres and styles. And of course, our infamous AmpliTube 2 for iPad, star of Apple's iPad commercial, where you can add the entire Fender pack as an in-app purchase right inside the ADD GEAR menu. And finally, our newest addition, VocaLive, which is going to drop any day now in the iTunes App Store. There are full and FREE versions of all of these.

I would have been impressed if he mentioned products other than one's from his own company. It's not like there's not 65k+ apps to choose from and these are the only one's out there. :?

Any other apps you would like to mention or are you only here to advertise?

You might also like to mention that ik apps are still standalone and
Still lack Sonoma audiocopy.

And the groovemaker apps are locked content with no way to add user content.

Devon ampkit has audiocopy

My personal app recommendations are

Bm2
Pianist pro
Touchosc (need oscullator)
Nanostudio(limited)
Morphwiz
Twistedwave

Sorry, but the iRig/Amplitube combination is just too noisy for prime-time.
Have to go back to the drawing board on that one and work out the impedance/grounding isolation issues when using the iPad port with that wonky guitar cord dealy. (on iPhone it's basically useless it's so noisy).

Anyways...

Morphwiz
Just about any of the Korg synths
Touchosc

AFAIK just about everything else is still relatively lightweight, but simple enough for such things as triggering loops in Live, or manipulating faders on mixers.

I'm kind of fond of what Alesis has already accomplished with their docking interface - but hey, that's yet more hardware pffffttttt :)

So far, what I've tried are NanoStudio and iRig. I like both of them! :)

Hey DevonB,
Did you just get an iPad? If you bought one after february 16, you can apparantly get a $100 refund, or alternatively refund the entire iPad for the full price and get an iPad 2 instead. source: http://www.tipb.com/2011/03/03/apple-of ... t-2-weeks/

Just so you know. Worth checking out.
