Just get the camera kit, then you can plug in a midi keyboard.... plus there are various interfaces available.

iPad 2 is going to have 30-pin to USB. And Apple will also have a 30-pin to Thunderbolt adapter sold separately. That will open up some interesting possibilities, for sure.

The iPad 2 will also be compatible with IK Multimedia's iRig and iRig Mic.

FYI...

Thunderbolt is not built into iPad 2, so the adapter may have scaled-back throughput.
We'll see what the future brings.

Where did you hear this? I can't recall seing that information anywhere. And isn't Thunderbolt based on PCI express architecture, which the iPad 2 doesn't have, which means that even if they make some kind of thunderbolt adapter, it wouldn't be possible to use the 10 GB/s bandwidth anyway? Hope I'm wrong though..

This would be correct.

The best you'd be able to do is interface to another thunderbolt port on an external device, but it wouldn't be at the full-speed that TB offers.

Right, it's not going to be Thunderbolt speeds, but it will allow for interfacing with Thunderbolt ports on other devices, which means a lot of future devices will be opened up to the iPad2. This is why it's a Thunderbolt 'adapter' and not a Thunderbolt 'port'. ;)

I think 4G, Retina display, and native Thunderbolt support are being reserved for the iPad 3, 4, and 5...
