I have this plugin and it's brilliant and does sound very close to the the real ESQ-1.
ESQ-1 is a great synth and is often overlooked,I also have an ensoniq Mirage and that is such a cool sampler;you can create sinewaves or any other shapes in soundforge and transmit them via midi to the mirage(with Masos) and use its filters(real anlogue) to mess with them.
Sometime the Mirage sounds like an esq 1 and you can pick an old Mirage up for next to nothing.
Ensoniq made some kick ass synths...what happened to them???

Got bought out by Creative Labs and that didn't really help them much.

They bought them for there sound card chip tech . They weren't interested in their MI products as they already bought up E-MU too . Personally I think they killed the wrong company , but IMHO E-MU and Ensoniq got in each others way in sales too often , both CO's were the " affordable" sampler MI devs of the 80's/90's .

The SQ8L can be used as a editor librarian for both the ESQ-1 ,SQ80 as it will read SYX bank/single dumps and convert them to or from syx and fxb .

Also It will work as a midi overflow expander for either as well taking an ESQ-1/SQ80 from 8 Voices to 16 ...
Or I suppose to as many instances as you would like to run .

Sooo... for me its only fault is lack of automation,or there is some way around it ?There is no chance for version with enabled automation ?

If the rumours about Ensoniq is starting up again is true, they are very dumb if they did not buy Sigi to get into the stables.

I hope this is why he is silent

I only dug up this old thread coz I just bought an Ensoniq SD1 off an old
friend of mine who is now a crackhead. And before you cry "exploitation",
I saw the thing covered in cement dust when he was having his house rebuilt -
I will be jolly surprised if it works at all - but you do what you can do.

Seems Siggy really has gone to ground - no info about anything.
I've given up on anything else vst wise from him and that is ok.
Would have been nice to know he's ok. To paraphrase myself from before:
Ichiro Toda surprised us all - I hope Siggy does the same.
Hope that Daichi is ok. Hope that Siegfried is too.

Does anyone have any news on this at all?

I think it's time to reverse engineer Synth1 and SQ8L!

The download still works, right? What's everybody so worried about?

He should have just put the map from the real ESQ-1 onto his GUI and provide page buttons, then it would be just as easy to program as the original.

I doubt there will be any volunteers as well .

As to what would anyone be worried about .... well longer life span for a tool you love is always an ease off a concern of it's use .
It is very easy to program I agree whole hardily just as easy as the real ESQ-1/SQ80 , but it would be fantastic to be able to do some on the fly tweaking ( other than what the mod wheel and aftertouch can do if not some recorded automation as well no ?

+ Just maybe it sadness us to see the incompletion of a deity when it could have been a god .

It can do:

2. Only 8 notes of polyphony
3. No multimode
