Hmmm, I'd be tempted to say that Logic behavior is a bit extreme :)
The CPU spikes are not new, it's just that loading a preset can require quite a bit of computations with all these curves and envelopes and stuff... presets using the additive engine needs to IFFT several wavetables... all this stuff simply takes time :(

This said, I'll look into it anwyay - maybe something is going wrong with the UI refreshes.

Keypresses are a nightmare to handle properly, in a way that works consistently with most hosts. But I hear you, and I'll see how to provide a next/previous preset navigation.

Yeah this should be fine - if I find where to squeeze them in the UI.

Yes I'll add arrows. Maybe not between the browsers, as I think it would work better in the bottom part, next to the "current program" name - so that you can change preset from any page. Maybe something similar to what I've done for changing waveforms, with next/previous arrows appearing only when entering the waveform display.

Just confirming the CPU spike issue when changing presets in Logic and that it is extreme.

I can also confirm huge cpu spikes changing presets in Logic Pro 9.1.3
