How to make that sound...

how do you think this synth sound is made? sounds like a sine wave with some kind of pitched filter on it

Post

I think its more of a triangle but it could have a sine in there too. basically just put an LFO on the pitch and then use your mod wheel so you can control it. Its no different then what Afrojack or DJ Chuckie do just used in a different contexts.

ps. im not expert. just my 2 cents.

yes I'm pretty positive it's a basic triangel wave, maybe a kind of filter with high Q on it as well, and pretty obvious a reverb on it as well

thanks for the replys.

I'm trying to figure out what is making the clicking sounds exactly, on first listen this may sound like a simple synth sound to recreate, but I think there is something clever happening.

lots of people seem to want to quickly write this off as just a triangle wave, but honestly I've not seen anyone yet to do a proper recreation, on youtube or otherwise.

well the clicky sound is easy to generate: just make a very short pitch envelope in the beginning of the sound (like 37 ms decay and one octave above as peak level)
maybe try a filter envelope too, for getting the same sound, and experiment. I still think the closest you'll get to this sound is by experimenting with the reverb

agreed. the clicking is just a very fast attack. if you have a lower frequency it would sound more like a punch but since this synth has a high frequency its more clicky

do you have sylenth1??? if so i can send you the preset i have for it. it's pretty much exactly the same sound. super easy.

post it up! mediafire/zippyshare it! thx

all you have to do is modulate the sustain on the mod envelope 1 to really hear the pitch changes. let me know what you think.

Hi, I am trying to get this synth sound that is in the beginning of the song... I am using Ableton Live 8.

Can someone please help me get the same sound right? Like what notes are they and what LFO settings, etc...

Thanks!!

Post

Well, there's no LFO on it. It's either being manually pitchbent, or they're utilizing portamento. In either case, the midi-note being played hardly matters.

I think it's portamento.

I can kinda make the same sound using the Ableton Analog instrument and I have an LFO that modifies the Osc Pitch.

I'll experiment with it more.

That is just... awful.

I got it sounding exact using glide and simpler... PM me if anyone wants the ableton file..
