the only place my new guitar is going is back in my hands...I love ithibidy wrote:*sigh* I'm sending back the ibby. The long story short is it's not "prestige" enough for the "prestige" price. It has too many flaws and I just have to say buh bye.

How about one of these from a UK custom builder, Feline Guitars, a bit pricey for me at around £2300 but I
it. Solid mahogany carved body, much thinner than a full LP. Made for his own use, he's so impressed with the result it may be added to his line of builds.

A close-up of the body

The all access neck joint is a thing of beauty imo

Fabulous looker

It does look great doesn't it? Oh, and it's called the Lion
Weighing in at a very comfortable 7.2lbs, seemingly the mahogany body was intended to give more SG/Flying V tonal characteristics.

I like the slim body, is it a true neck-thru?

No, from what I can gather it's a just a very different way of joining neck to body to give easy access to the upper frets.Hink wrote:I like the slim body, is it a true neck-thru?

my new ESP is quite similar (but it is a nck-thru) and I can testify that it works, my warmoth has an angled heel joint as well and it is far more comfortable as wellIan B wrote:No, from what I can gather it's a just a very different way of joining neck to body to give easy access to the upper frets.Hink wrote:I like the slim body, is it a true neck-thru?

I'm seldom that far up the neck for comfort to really matterHink wrote:my new ESP is quite similar (but it is a nck-thru) and I can testify that it works, my warmoth has an angled heel joint as well and it is far more comfortable as wellIan B wrote:No, from what I can gather it's a just a very different way of joining neck to body to give easy access to the upper frets.Hink wrote:I like the slim body, is it a true neck-thru?

you would love the Daion then, when sitting it sits in the lap for me in such a way that playing the upper register is not as comfortable as other guitars, but the lower register is awesome. Come to think of it, that's probably more due to my fat gutIan B wrote:I'm seldom that far up the neck for comfort to really matterHink wrote:my new ESP is quite similar (but it is a nck-thru) and I can testify that it works, my warmoth has an angled heel joint as well and it is far more comfortable as wellIan B wrote:No, from what I can gather it's a just a very different way of joining neck to body to give easy access to the upper frets.Hink wrote:I like the slim body, is it a true neck-thru?![]()
I have small hands so I love the contoured heel joints, when I play my tele baritone I really notice it because it's so thick and no contour. (it also weighs a ton)

It's similar to what Fernandes does:Ian B wrote:No, from what I can gather it's a just a very different way of joining neck to body to give easy access to the upper frets.

The Fernandes provides way a tad more functionality but that Feline looks better. Is the Feline a flat top?

Feline are rather good but for the price not for me. Never heard or read a bad word about thier builds Ian mate, they always adverise in GuitarBuyer. That one you have come across looks superb
I have found a choice of Charvel USA Production Models (San Dimas Type 1 & Type 2 and the SoCal) for £699 which is a great price compared with the £999 RRP. Also ESP and ESP/LTDs for very fair prices compared to many places, BC Rich Assasins, Ibanez MTM & MTM2 models, Speaker cabs/Amps, pedals again at great prices plus another Mick Thompson signature instrument, which i am in pretty much dire need of, It is an acoustic but plays great and does not sound as meh as some of their acoustics:
http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acata ... uitar.html (As is i only have a cheapo acoustic and acess to borrow half-decent ones if i really needed to). So damned tempting for one Charvel San Dimas Type 1 from the above place (Slab Alder Body, Bolt-On Hardrock Quarter Sawn Maple Neck, Maple Board, Orginal Floyd-Rose, Seymour Duncan 59 neck postion, JB bridge postion, Single Tone, Volume & 3 Way Toggle, 25.5" Scale-Length, 24 frets and 7ender Strat headstock. One of the orginal metal/hard rock machines!) but i am just can not afford or justify at the moment

Eric how is the Amplifier hunt going for you? Glad to hear that you were re-appreciating what you already have got but still curious if you have any contenders
All the best to everyone

Dean! Hope you are well as well
@Charvel: I really wanted one of those so cal's in the pagan gold
I never got a chance to play one and considering my FAIL at ordering guitars onlin
I fear I'll never get a chance to play one (and the production has long since run out anyways)
