I have just read this topic, and that really sucks!

Have you considered offering these customers a special update price to a proper license? After all it is not their fault, and that way at least you will gain a few new legitimate customers.

Oh man that is just wrong. Unfortunately thats why copy protections like iLok's and eLicenser do do come in. Software without copy protection is relying on honest customers, which is not the world we live in ;(

I seem to remember seeing an old battered organ type contraption in an old music store and it had the badge WERSI on it,I think but this was back in the very late 70's so I'm not sure. How old is the WERSI brand?

I think the WERSI you talk about has nothing to do with the Software distributor WERSI. Same name, different companies :) You think about this:

No, there's only one Wersi.

Well actually, in this case, the protection scheme, has nothing to do with it.

And it wasn't dishonest customers either.

imho, i think while it is interesting to see a result from this topic, which it seems isn't really the case, i think it would be fair to directly send a letter to the wersi headquarter to clear up the things.

often it can go that way,a suspicious dealer can make good friends, sell a hell of whatever shit to them and nobody will notice a criminal energy behind it.

in fact it isn't cheating until the curt attest it,that's a law in germany.

if there is a doubt the accused is innocent.

i've got the impression that wersi's headquarter don't know anything about what we are talking here,

Read the thread. ;-)

We haven't signed a contract because at the time the Company went out of business, we were still discussing the terms of our deal. I think that the new owner has nothing more to do with the previous Company. I already am in touch with Musik Store Cologne, and they assured me that they are not selling those upgrades any more and they don't deal with the old Wersi employees any more. But it's just their word.
ok,i have not read this part of ZioKiller.
Actually, MSC contacted me recently for the same reason I was contacted early by Wersi, they want to bundle VB3 with their Pegasus Wing keyboard. But when I told them this story, they had some doubts. Now let's see what they have to say...
let's see what comes and it is good that wersi is directly involved,so no comment anymore from me about this.

BUT one advise, those old and new company drivel is a bunch of puzzlement, take care of this.

i mean, there is a old company with the name they closed and another month the same company extist again with the same name?

ok,doesn't matter what name it is,this chidren allready have a name it's called.

sub company.

rip off's are socially acceptable, that's the point here.

i'm talking from my own experience

@ ZioKiller.

since this will end up in a unfair (for you) sub-company law involvement.i strongly suggest to make a deeper search who is the OWNER of wersi,it can be possible that this guy don't know anything about this thread.
at least the company will losing reputation,if not already happend.
show him this thread and leave the bollocks outside.

those guys you are in contact just want to hide itself.

Not true. If Ziokiller would have used iLok or eLicenser protection and provided WERSI with one activation key, WERSI could have only run VB3 on their USB stick. WERSI could have not copied the software to every man and his dog, it wouldn't run without USB stick that contains activation.

I didn't even dare to think they are the same! Unfortunatly, you might be right - if you read below, WERSI is in deep sh**. Who would have thought that a 20 yr+ brand would turn into illegal activities!??

Looks like the NuBi-based instrument has been released.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

I am really sorry for the original poster.

Maybe, you could use this unfortunate event as a promotion, and do VB4, and sell it for good cash. Peeps bought VB3 from WERSI would know your software and brand already.
not 'ere nowadays :(
