Which again does not mean that Slate should lower price to accommodate your situation or someone other personal limit.

I am following this thread with great curiosity. Some great tips here. As i said before i have Nebula and i tried VCC demo and i was impressed and easily shocked on how people claim that this is subtle and not worth it, or easily to achieve with other available effects.

My english is very limited so i can not express my opinion correctly without being funny but i can tell you that this plugin does something to your signal what no other plugin does. And it does it good and in positive way.

I said that i own Nebula because i want to add that i agree with most of people that VCC is far easier to use, less latency and great result. As much a i hate odd marketing and weird public relationship (not poiniting to Slate specifically - i could talk about it) i can only say "congratulations" for VCC.

You did some amazing job Slate. You indeed delivered something extraordinary to ITB mixing.

Looking forward to buy it.

i didn't actually say they should lower the price. i said the price was fair.

if you're going to quote someone, read and understand their post first

Rule #1, don't talk about theoretical higher prices on KVR.

Compyfox would prefer if only rich people had access to good sound. I say I should have access to slap him in the face with a large trout.

I don't know how I'm going to manage this but I also MUST get the VCC...I'm not commenting one way or another whether or not the price is high/low it's just high for ME right now but it doesn't mean it's not worth every penny..that's subjective however and up to each person to determine for themselves.

To bduffy...THANKS for those fantastic audio examples - not only did they clearly demonstrate the audible difference the VCC makes but your explanations under each were FANTASTIC and helped me mentally verbalize what my ears were hearing but couldn't entirely formulate into words...very helpfull...

On a side note...I don't know who the composer(s) of that clip is but I REALLY need to hear more...I haven't heard a sound like that - arrangement/composition wise (nor the overall sound of the guitars) in a looong time - it is my preferred "sound" and style of music, and would love to hear more...is there a commercially available source?

Hey man, thanks a lot! Firstly, I'm always glad to help out. I love to hear examples, especially with something like this, so super happy if people can benefit from it. Also keeps me off the streets. :D

Secondly, I'm really thrilled you liked the examples! That's from my band Arkana's last CD "Automat6n" from 2007 (but tracked throughout the 00's). You can get it at CD Baby, and and it's on iTunes and other retail places too. Let me know if you like it, I haven't been too proactive in promoting it, mostly because I've moved on so far in my mixing since then, it's hard for me to listen to. But I'm proud of it still.

Anyways, thanks again! Here's to saving up for VCC! :D

You can have access, but you're not allowed to execute.

Seriously people... I'm usually on the cheap side as well. But think about it:
You have access to a Solid State console, a british console, one from "Automatic Processes, Inc" and Poseidon's "weapon" for the time being. These consoles are expensive. "The Weapon" (or Symbol) not even built anymore. Now you can get them for peanuts - and combine them with your prefered emulations of either the same console, or whatever is at your disposal.

What I have a problem with, is that everyone can access that particular plugin set, and then claim they are the best among the best mixers and musicians on the market. Browse half a day on youtube (tags: new beats, my tune, hiphop, own production, etc) for example and you see what I mean. But those that are the real wizards/guru's or "real audio engineers" are downtoned drastically. This is not correct in my opinion.

I had a conversation with several developers at a MUSIKMESSE a couple of years ago. They were like "we offer quality, not quantity" and another developer via mail wrote me "we charge what we thing is fair for the work we put into - there is enough competition on the market". And both fractions are right.

I'm not saying "raise the price, put it out of reach" to the whole music community. I rather say it as prevention to people going haywire and stating stuff they don't even know about (aka: novice users that act big). Slate LLC made the correct move in that direction already: iLok2 - so far as save as Syncrosoft.

This is my personal opinion, and wouldn't I have had this set already, I would save up on getting it at either price. Combined with a BCR2000 it's definitely fun to mix ITB. And I can hardly wait for more desks (even sent in a handful of recommendations already).

But please let us not go anymore OT (price debate and copy protection) - this thread got derailed enough already.

Still waiting for an answer from the Slate crew reagarding the calibration.

sorry for asking so late here, but is VCC suitable for electronic dance music?
or is it more for rock, metal or guitar music in general?

If I may, I'd say it's suitable for anything you would record through a console, which I guess would be everything!

There are some trance examples on p.8 and a bit of discussion. Steven said himself it's perfect for electronic music.
