If it's good enough for Rebecca Black, then it's good enough for me too!

...and it's Friday!

Uh, but what exactly is this?

From IKM's page it's billed as:

"a powerful integrated Orchestral Workstation combining the legendary Miroslav Orchestral and Choir sample collection masterpieces with a dedicated plug-in instrument"

Workstation? :?

And it's dongle based?

Post

Ordered :-) Got my serial 5 minutes later.
I had a question for IKM and got a reply from their support 15 minutes later.
That's what I call service! Kudos to AM and IKM!

Does serial mean serial only or is it the activation code for the eLicenser?

Says here on KVR it's dongle based and can't find on IKM's page if they've changed to regular serial?

Post

It's C/R. They abandoned the dongle some years ago.

Ordered, paid using paypal, got 4 emails (including serial) within 5 minutes...not bad for 7:45pm in the UK, much quicker than my last "no brainer" purchase :)

Thumbs up audiomidi.

I bought the full version on sale years ago and it came with a dongle.

Then, on the IK site there was a download link for a sounds upgrade that changed it to elicence with no need for the dongle any longer.

So, is this really worth getting regardless of the price (as I am sure a lot of people are tired of buying mediocre sounds). I wasn't impressed with ST2 and found the preset programming to be hit or miss (which is completely garbage in my mind- you sell something- it should be polished- or else it's a beta!).
Lured by the price- but hate regrets.

Ok thx, no dongle then.

But can someone enlighten me to what exactly a workstation is?

Yamaha Motif, Korg Triton......

In this case it's a advertising statement with no real value. This is just a sampler/rompler like any other one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workstation

However, in the music world I think it's a do it all rompler/synth that can build a complete track just using the sounds contained in it only...In this case a complete orchestral piece...maybe :?

Post

Ah ok, marketing fancy.. But why use terms that only confuses people? :?

But how is the UI? It it like Sampletank with tiny GUI and scroll bar hell?

Post

I have the full version. Its my go-to for strings. I don't use much else in my music (as far as orchestral samples goes), so I'm happy.

Can highly recommend it, if it gives you the 'best of Philharmonik' or something.

Post

Is this a VST or a sample library? Would gladly pay $15 for a great orchestral sample library. But not sure I want a dead-ended 32bit piece of code standing between me and my samples. Can I load the instruments in Kontakt?

Also how does this compare to the Steinberg Halion Symphonic Orchestra sound set? (already own)
